To be fair AAMI Park has had two goes at an Aus v Eng match and neither impressed. We are yet to know what Australia v England would draw in Sydney or Brisbane or elsewhere as England or Great Britain hasn't played there since 2006, apart from when they played the semi in 2008 against NZ and drew more than this year's opener.

I don't think it was the worst choice venue for Aus/England but my initial reaction when they announced having the game there was I hope they get more than the last 2 games there which they did but only just.

For a world cup opener, I feel it should've been at Suncorp and maybe 30,000+ could've turned up.

The last few times they've had the Aus/Eng games in Melbourne has led up to the Melbourne Cup which a lot of Poms go to.

I wouldn't be surprised the next 4 nations here, maybe 2019 that we see Aus Vs Eng again at AAMI Park but I wish they would look elsewhere.

The Four Nations no longer exists. There is talk of a GB Lions Tour of Australia in 2019 you would think that Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne will host the three tests.

Considering the 2014 4 Nations Double Header drew 48k I think it could have easily sold-out a double-header opener.

Four Nations is gone, hopefully for good. England will tour here in 2019 and hopefully we get a 3 test Brisbane-Melbourne-Sydney Ashes series. Although I wouldn't mind if Perth replaced Melbourne.

Gee the numbers dont look good for both Quarter Finals in NZ.

Cant believe they are charging $60 for a CAT A ticked in Chch and $70 for Wellington.

Based on the website i would say 2-3,000 have been sold for the Chch and for the Wellys game maybe slightly more :(

Melbourne is a bit confusing, no bays available on the lower tiers either side. You would want to hope they are sold because holding these areas back would be ridiculous.

Oh dear … that's 40,000 tickets left to sell in about 12 days !

Wonder how the final is tracking?

I think this game and the final will be fine mate - 40k minimum for both. Once the quarters are over and the general public come to grips with an Aus v NZ semi the tickets will move - a couple of quality semi-finals will then boost ticket sales for the final.

I think Suncorp would have been a good choice of opener. Not sure how I feel about holding the SF and GF both in Brisbane. It's a big ask for them to sell 100K tickets in 2 weeks.

That's happened in lots of matches. Not sure what the reason is but it makes buying tickets really hard and I have no doubt it's turning a lot of fans away.

Again awful ticket pricing. This tournament has been really poorly organised IMO.

The ticket pricing has been way too expensive and reckless! Let alone the confusion experienced by fans trying to choose a seat location with certain areas unavailable then available. If the organisers were business savvy they would cheapen all ticket prices and apply a first in best seat choice policy and sell the games out prior to match day! But no this would make the code look too popular and hype up further this already entertaining competition. Too much positives involved with that strategy!

It does seem a strange strategy given they did so well on selling the hosting rights. Ive often thought you should reward people who get in early and have dynamic pricing where seats start at $20 then go up $5 at a time as you get closer to the event. locks people in nice and early.

I'm guessing whoever was in charge of this is part of the NRL as this is the same BS they now pull with the pricing for Origin and GF etc

Having said all that at every game you could get a seat for at least $20 so price isn't really that much of a barrier is it? If you wanted to do it on the cheap you could, the best seats have been over priced but I wonder how many chose not to go because they couldn't get a best seat for $20 less than being asked?

Looking at Melbourne, it's looking pretty clear they they are only concerned with selling one side of the ground, with only two bays on the north & south side available to purchase into, and all of the Eastern Upper now available to purchase into.

In Wellington, slowly more and more Cat C's are being opened up. Honestly, this seems to be the only category with any form of momentum. Sales into the Cat As have been extremely sparse, whilst Cat B is selling at a more encouraging rate... hopefully they'll either recategorise some of these soon or it will look terrible on TV.

In Christchurch, behind the posts is selling strongly, and is on track to fill up by Saturday. There is okay sales into Cat A's, however as mentioned before, seats don't appear to be moving too quickly. I feel there is enough scattering of sales though, that on TV it will look alright... similar to the Scotland game.

I got Kangaroos v Kiwis semi-final tickets for $76 each (Cat B). They are in the Western Stand, in line with the in goal area at the Caxton St end in the lower bowl. They will probably throw some freebies around next week to fill the stadium but I'm happy to pay that to get a seat nice and close to the field.
