If we want this to be treated like a serious and profitable event they can't be flogging every ticket at $10 a pop. NRLGF and SOO tickets go for $400+

Can't claim this is the pinnacle of the game then refuse to pay 1/3rd of the price of the big events

Geez it looks dire out there... I'll be very interested to see how the crowds compare to 2008. I thought they were quite decent back then.

Looks ugly, not surprising when the "sporting capital of
Australia" have had zero coverage of the opening game of a World Cup. If it doesn't improve it's bloody embarrassing and hurts the whole tournament.

Different scenario. When you have a hostile environment as far as government support/funding its much more difficult to grow a sport in any country. Rugby league is doing remarkably well considering the obstacles it has and continues to face. This must be factored into the international game. Its a reality. The game must invite fans with cheaper prices as this code faces difficulties in establishing itself in many nations due to a very determined and undermining rival big brother code in rugby union. Its sad and unsportsmanlike but its reality and the game has to adapt where necessary to grow when and where it can.

The opening crowd against New Zealand at the SFS ended up being quite good. But that was the only stand out I recall.

They should have moved heaven and earth to make sure this match was a sellout.

If Storm are averaging 15k, surely between travelling supporters and curious locals they could have gotten another 15k in to fill the 30k stadium.

It doesn't look too bad. It's still filling up from what I can see.

I recall seeing alot of people comment on Facebook that they didn't know what time the opening ceremony was. Just the kick off.

You can see huge areas where they obviously haven't sold any tickets. No chance of them filling up so plenty of empty seats on show.

Should have had it in Brisbane.

Increasing cat a prices by $15 to $155 when they should have been halves to fill those last bays was a ridiculous decision

Just looking at live feed over my cornflakes, lots of empty seats. Let's hope the bars in the stands are full. Let's see...By the way, C'mon England!!!!
