So what’s everyone’s prediction for crowd size tonight? It’s difficult to get a read from the website.

The pax numbers look like about 20k with a walk up of 5k tonight. 25k for me. Anyone have a current pax?

AAMI. This is a bad miscalculation by the organisers. There's about a half a dozen people in this thread alone who could have done a better job.
They would have sold 40,000 easily at Suncorp Stadium. No problem whatsoever..

it'll be 28k+, all depends on how full the upper west stand is. All the rest of the stadium is almost full now, each end of the western stand is full so you would hope the fact that the middle bays aren't open means they have already been allocated, otherwise it will look stupid with some of the best seats in the house empty.

Honestly they could have possibly sold 40K easily at Etihad or the MCG...

The issue with taking a game to a smaller venue,is one it takes away some of the 'event' feel that it might have. (To a non-RL sports fan in Victoria : MCG = Event, AAMI Park = Regular Game). That is made worse when you have tickets at around 150 a pop...

You also run the risk that people just expect it to sell out, so don't buy.

At least at the MCG or Etihad, not only would there have been more of an event factor, but ticket prices per head would have been less...

Anyway, in the Upper East, despite most bays been on sale, there is only around 100 seats left... The bigger concern is the Upper West Cat A Bays which aren't really selling... They'll have obvious gaps.

Of the Cat Bs, in the North & South it is just the back couple of rows they are selling into. You won't see these and even a minimal walk up should fill them. The limited Cat Bs on the Upper West pretty much disappeared in a couple of hours.

Cat Cs, there is literally 6 tickets left across those Bays still on sale. These have gone like hotcakes and honestly was the best move by the organisers...

They should just get on the 5pm news and say all walk ups for $40 for any remaining seats
Slash the prices and pack the joint

If there are empty seats anywhere in cat a, the person who organised this event and ticket prices should be sacked immediately. How do they even come to these outrages prices. Even at $100 it probably would have struggled to sell out.

Have honestly not heard a peep about this game in Melbourne until this morning. Problem with that is if casual fans are only reminded on the day of the game they either have plans or assume it is sold out in most cases. Hopefully gets a decent very last minute push.

Melbourne's a tough one - getting a big Rugby League crowd there is always a good thing BUT it's a lot harder to do than Brisbane or Sydney and it's a lower definition of 'big'. 30,000 at Suncorp would be seen as a disaster.

This is so obvious but they still can't get their thick heads around it. Marketing 101.

Etihad or the MCG would be shit.
At lower prices maybe they sell 40k or so but it would be a worse experience for the fans and a worse look with 10s of thousands of empty seats. AAMI is the right choice for Melbourne.

Don't forget we've got a Quarter final there too, a much harder sell than a Kangaroos opener.

Mt Smart for the NZ semi on the other hand, disappointing lack of ambition. Eden Park would likely go close to filling up.

The scheduling of matches was seriously botched from the start. Whatever we get for the tournament, it could have been far more with proper advice from people who know what they are doing. I am not convinced anyone at the RLWC organisation level knows the game, especially the international game, sufficiently.

Priority 1 was getting money from state governments

Yeah just checked and they have raised the price of cat a from $140 to $155.

Hopefully this is due to demand and not a ploy to force last minute buyers into buying at an inflated price

I don't know how it was looking before, but the seat selector shows
-only 300-350 tickets remaining across all Cat A
-400-450 in Cat B
-0 in Cat C
-15 in Aus Bay
-0 in England Bay
-100 in Alcohol free

Under 1000 tickets remaining to the general public, unless there are still sections to open up.
If that's the case the total will likely come down to how many corporates and other freebies show up.
