Rnd 1 Vs Brisbane

As I said earlier in the week. Brisbane had a very good side on paper with a nuffy at hooker and a bad fullback.

The nuffy got lucky and they scored a try after he f**ked a play and Cobbo was awful.

It's worrying that our hooker was worse and we never took advantage of Cobbo's multiple errors.

Luai and critter are unlikely to have that many brain fairts in a single game again. Between them I counted three good attacking chances blown and a try conceded that should’ve been a simple stop.

One thing we can all agree on is Edwards is a freak.

273m game 1 of the season.

Critta is honestly kidding himself if he even thinks he's fit to shine dyls boots

His work at the back was awesome as usual, but his involvement in our attacking plays left a lot to be desired. I know there’s a good chance I’ll cop it for that as Dylan is generally above crticism around here but even the commentary noticed how far before the line he was playing his passes. He needs to do better there, take the metres and then pass, he can do that and the right side is much better when he does.

Ivan cleary needs to take a good hard look at himself.

Garner offered nothing absolutely stuff all..

Kenny killed the attack all night.

Critta was deadset pathetic. He played like a 150k player.

Nathan got out kicked by Reynolds very clearly. Very very avg kicking game tonight. Reynolds controlled the game beautifully.

Luai needs to run waaaay more.

We are going to need to change things.. it's not panic stations. It's just clear it's not gonna work the way things are...

I'm bemused how all the fans can see it all off season yet... we see garner plod and Kenny plod in attack all game.

Deadset, that was probably the most predictable performance ever from those two..

Kenny can start. Play the first 15 or 20 than come on and play the third prop middle forward. Luke needs to play most minutes. We were a different team with him out there.

Garner honestly is a bog avg nrl player. Sure he's a fg player but not a starter in a team that wants to win the Comp.

Ivan needs to bite the bullet and play Sorensen there or give mav or Peachy a go.

I honestly want to see changes next week.

I honestly think we win Tonight easliy if Ivan doesn't wait soo bloody long to bring on Luke and if we have mav or Peachy at 2nd row. At least they offer something with ball in hand.

Even play Martin on the left and salmon on the right ffs... anything is better than garner or hosking

Take a breath mate.

Play Soni for longer minutes and we’ll be fine.

We probably need to switch Bizza over to the left as well.

Peachy and Mav is a horrible idea.

We just need to stick with the same 17 and give them a chance to work it out.

I don’t think it was that bad. Brisbane defended better than most teams will this year and the two tries we gave up were very uncharacteristic, the only two line breaks we gave up were those two tries so the defence is still there. Martin was over the line with the ball in his hands that would’ve won us the game right there. Give Soni more minutes and switch Martin to the left side that’s all we can do for me.

For me based on that performance we should finish top four but we won’t win or even make the gf with that attack.

I said in a DM that we should aim for 6 points after 6 rounds. We are mid range side and played like it in our 2 big hit outs

Desperately need a quality second rower, and the best we have is playing off the bench in reserve grade and ineligible for firsts. ffs

There was a scrum Luai fed it, Cleary gets it and just takes the hit up. So everyone was off in attack

Luai had some shocking moments, but they we're born out of frustration. He had very little space to work with, something hes had plenty of playing outside Kikau his entire career. Still remains to be seen whether he has the game to contribute with defenders able to keep a closer eye on him.

I predicted he'd have a quiet year without Kikau and I stand by it.

We play that style and neither half will have a good year

Is that really the best use of an elite half?
It's Ivan philopshy to his halves that when there's nothing on run the ball and try to create a fast ruck yourself. That's been the belief coached into all our halves both times Ivan was coach.

I mean Cleary's a big boy. You don't realise it until you see him in real life but he's as big as Fitler nowadays. Running the ball himself would therefor be one of his biggest strengths with that physical strength.

I don’t care that we lost. But if Soni Luke didn’t just unanimously win the audition for starting 9, I’m not here.

Its just a question of whether he will be as effective starting.

Had a great game. Very happy for him at 27 years.

Soni had 65m in 26 minutes tonight, a forced dropout abd a try. Its clear our attack was much better with him, the question is can he make 50 plus tackles like Kenny and keep that spark. Id increase him minutes slowly over the next few weeks and see how he goes, give him 30-40 minutes for a few games and see if he handles it.

We were doing plays in 2021 that involved Edwards packing into the scrum. Scoring from the halves passing it back, We are now having halves take on the line to hope we catch them on the next play

No wonder we only scored 2 tries
