Not too unhappy with what I saw last night. It was obvious to all that Crighton was unusually poor - I wouldn't expect him to be that bad again this year.

Yep, Luke made a difference when he came on with his threat from dummy half seemingly clicking our attack into gear. Question will be how to build his minutes without throwing out our rotation - I'd like to be getting him on after 20-25 but he'd likely need a break during the 2nd half so he's effective at the back of the game.

I wasn't too upset with Garner (maybe due to low expectations). I thought he did his job defensively and I saw at least 1 good line he ran off Luai, but agree with the coach he was a step or 2 behind the play on attack. Happy to give him 4-6 weeks before deciding whether to put a line through him.

Overall we played a against a big forward pack with a good general kicker and there was a lot of stoppages (the ref stopping thr game after losing his tech was the bit that shit me most). We always struggle in those circumstances but could have jagged the win if Luai hadn't got inside the 10 after the FG attempt.

Kikau and Api are huge losses but they are at an age where they have played their best footy. Or perhaps will have a few more seasons. They just cost far to much. You can't replace them with he same quality. The only way is via juniors.

The biggest mistake Penrith ever done and hindsight is a wonderfull thing but letting Burton go over Lui. Burton was to much of a talent. That deal just had to get done no matter what.

Also give Turuva a break. Not his fault. Same goes for Garner. Id wait till rnd 8 before I judge anyone in the side or competition.

Kenny should be seen as a 25min hooker fill in. Nothing more.

Agree with most of what has already said but I’m surprised there isn’t more criticism of Martin’s game. He absolutely butchered that certain try and the brain dead early captain’s challenge farked us later when we couldn’t challenge some blatantly wrong calls.

Actually thought El Salmono had more of a crack than some of our more fancied forwards, Martin particularly.

Did you not watch the World Cup?
It's a fair point. I guess I've just seen enough of him in this system at this level to suspect that, similar to every other player who's played on that edge, he's been made to look better by the space Kikaus presence has given him. Obviously very much hope he finds a way to adjust his game to the new structure.

The butchered try was sloppy and really cost us, but its the captains job to veto nonsense challenges like that. Could tell that one was going to fail from my phone.

Everyone was off last night, it’s a flow on effect.

We looked much better the Soni, he’s the key. As everyone has been saying. It’s just going to take a bit of time to build the minutes into him.

I’ve been saying for a while now, if he stays fit, he has the potential to be an excellent hooker.

Win lose or draw, I’ll be giving the boys a good 6 weeks before making any judgement.

The Broncos were very committed, defence was excellent they will be likely top 8 if they have a good run with injury.

We had plenty of football in good field position but just didn’t quite capitalise. I have no doubt had we of levelled things up earlier than we did we would have gone onto win.

It was an incredibly frustrating game to watch live, no idea how it would have appeared on TV. Gerald Sutton allowed the Broncos considerable latitude in the ruck, play the ball and on more than one occasion held up play which allowed the Broncos to take a breath. Not sour grapes, just the way it was. Frustrating.

Our defence for the majority of the game was excellent, the effort likewise another tough game next week.

One positive is it even took the Roosters time to gel when cronk and tedesco went there and they were some of the best players in arguably the team of the 2010s who went on to win B2B so no reason with time this now elite Panthers organisation can't do the same.

There's a few reasons we can't do that. But the main is we have the worst starting hooker in the competition.

Also have no size in the second row anymore.

We lost 2x players who could make something from nothing. They're replaced with 2x players who don't know what to do when presented with an opportunity.

The flow on effect of losing these players means less time and opportunity for everyone else. Garner doesn't attract defenders. So Luai, Tago and Turuva will need to work with less space off a slower play the ball with poor service from Mitch Kenny. They'll beat the odd tackle to spark stuff. But we wont be able to shift left as a cheat code for easy metres and linebreaks anymore.

The time Kenny is on the field is wasted opportunities all the time. Those stats shows we should have won, but he ain't got it?

Maybe he is the guy we drop?

Start Luke, with Mason on bench?

Move Martin, Sorrenson to the left?

To'o back to the left

Few tweeks and we will be ok

Good win by the Broncos. They are a much better side when Reynolds plays. We were regularly starting our sets inside our own 20 on the back of his kicking game.

Teams have had 2 years to work us out. The left attack will alway go thru Luai and the right will be a cut out ball from Yeo to Cleary. If a dummy like me can see that the I'm sure clubs with their clipboards and video analysis know it as well. Before it worked because we had an X factor in Api and Kikau. Now it just too predictable.

We need to try something different.

Lol at Gus for paying $800K for Critter.
