If Tep & French came through ranks at Roosters or Storm they would be already playing for NSW...
If they had've signed with them in the last year or two they could be playing Origin. Everyone looks better in a better team, because they have more opportunities to shine (e.g. more one-on-one contest in attack) and fewer opportunities to look like shit (e.g. fewer one-on-one contests in defence). If they're a kicker or a playmaker they have more time to make decisions.

We clearly have too many.
Too many of any player is never the problem. This is where people who need a scapegoat miss the point. You can't blame the solid first graders for the fact that we lack genuine stars. We have about 20 blokes who are good enough for any club's top 30. Ten (or so) of those could make the top 17 at any other NRL club. We just lack the experienced leaders with big game experience to give our other players confidence that we can take charge of games.

It does, and in that same time where exactly have we improved from as far as our FG is concerned?

BA took over the team that was placed 15, 16 and 16 the 3 years prior tonhis arrival.

Improved every year up to top 4 in 2017.
Back to last in 2018
Currently 8th

So far 2018 is the aberration, but some of the trained monkeys around here view it as the rule...

hmmm. There's two ways you can look at that though. D Brown and Mahoney are genuine first graders. How many of the rest would be genuine candidates for first grade at a successful club (not necessarily Top 4, but a club that regularly features in the Top 8)? I guess we might find out. Stone may be a slow burner...has the attitude.

There's probably an equal number of players who were in our system in 2014 who are playing first grade elsewhere. Just to start....Aloiai, Twal, Matterson, Miski (yuk I know), Kamikamiki or whatever his name is, Fuimaiono, Reimis Smth, And others who've played the odd game (Curran et al.).

I like BA, but I'm not sure this is an outstanding record.
Firstly how many of the players who have left are playing at “successful” clubs? Kamilkilicka? Matterson & Fuimaono never really established themselves at Rorters/Souffs.
But really secondly how many of the players who have left are genuinely better than the players they would’ve replaced in our squad at the time?
Lastly, takes a bit of guessing, but I think the best prospects are coming through now

Pau pau, if French gets rag dolled over the sideline at Parramatta, he'd be rag dolled at the Roosters.
The fact is that the string bean french was playing too light & weak at parra, and that would have never happened in a better system.

Well we aren't playing like a top 8 team at the moment - more like a bottom 4 club - so your suggestion that 2018 was some sort of fluke may not be the truth. Time will tell . ......

I’ve been a BA fan since day dot and up until the Melbourne game I would defend him and agree with all that you say. But after that performance I’ve seen enough, his been here long enough to assemble and build his squad and get who he wants and 6 years on we are still dishing up the same shit we saw in 2011,2012 and 2013.

He took all those steps forward but every year we show we have a couple of embarrassments in us and until they have been rid of we are never going to compete. He has failed to do that in his 6 years and the fact we started so promising and we were playing so well to have it all ruined in 80 mins just shows where we are at.

By all means call me a death rider, but I think I and many others have been more then fair in the time his been given, yes he had the salary cap crap to deal with and he was a pillar of hope during that time, but we then finished 4th the year later only to win the spoon 12 months on. The same inconsistencies and classic Parramatta traits are still at large within this squad that were ever so present when he first started, and to me that shows we haven’t really improved.

His team selections of late have been deadset mind boggling and the fact our middle defence is easily the worst in the comp still after all these years, prove enough. We haven’t been winning the ruck for 10+ years now and he still hasn’t solved it.

Happy to be proven wrong as I really liked what BA was doing but I can’t see it changing now in the next year or 2 when it hasn’t in the past 6.

That performance against Melbourne was a shock. I really thought we'd moved beyond that sort of shit.

So had I, and tbh it’s the most pissed off I have been over a game in years cause I thought we moved well past that.

But in saying that it just showed to me personally that he is not the man anymore for this job. His had his time to rid that.

Then 3 days later we re-sign him. Smh

Just like last year, they gave us hope for 40 mins last year, this year it lasted 9 weeks and now back to our usual shit.

Yeah, they have regressed quite quickly. Or maybe I over estimated what they were doing at the start of the season.

The timing to announce the signing was probably worked out well before that game...and his signature may well have been secured before that game as well.

Even so, don't come out and announce the signing after that shit show. Stupid decision.

Lol at the old “everyone’s system is better than ours”. Merkins barely have a clue how our system operates, why would anyone put any value in their “facts” over how other clubs operate?

I'm just saying that our record of bringing players through the ranks at this club isn't anything to write home about (look at the post I was replying to).

The fact is that french wouldn't have played at that weight at the Roosters, whether it's the coach or the system, who cares

There is ZERO proof so how is it a fact? Its just as likely that IF the Rorters only play players at a particular weight, that they wouldn’t have had French in their system to begin with

I think we all over estimated what they were doing at the start of the season especially after last years efforts.

Since the announcement everyone has regressed and who knows why, maybe now his safe his become complacent and feels at ease knowing his job isn’t on the line he can tinker with the team etc. Either way it’s been downhill since.

TBH we don't know the terms of his 2 year deal. On the basis that Gould said in a podcast that clubs usually like to assess the coach's position a year out simply to avoid the media frenzy that exists with a coach on his final year. We would have done that if not for our wooden spoon IMO.

What we don't know are the terms of any termination package. BA's contract could very well have a termination clause whereby he is only entitled to say a $200k golden handshake.

To suggest that a coach becomes complacent after signing a contract, which then reflects on the team being complacent, is a bit of a stretch. IIRC only one player out of a dozen off contract has secured his future.

That’s no reason to keep the ones who are no longer here. Particularly the ones at unsuccessful clubs

I'm just saying that our record of bringing players through the ranks at this club isn't anything to write home about (look at the post I was replying to).
Past results aren’t necessarily an indicator of future performance. Either it remains an issue or it doesn’t but we will continue the practice of bringing juniors through ranks
