Total. Drop them. Tak should have been dropped months ago. But in addition to being a coach who likes discipline he also likes to stay loyal to guys who don't have any and he cant coach them to be disciplined. He is in short a totally confused coach.
It's because Takairangi is one of our most talented players. He has size, footwork and skill. He just happens to lack discipline. So when Arthur says he wants merkins to be more disciplined, if he only picked the 17 most disciplined merkins in the squad they would lack in other areas (e.g. size, skill or speed). It's about juggling strengths and weaknesses, not sticking to absolutes.

It's like when you f**ken idiots accused Kearney/Stuart of wanting to play 'structured' SO WHY PICK SANDOE FFS !!!??!!!1

The whole point of structured footy is to create opportunities for the couple of creative players in the team. The fact that guys like Sandow and Roberts lacked opportunities wasn't because we played structured. It's because we were too shit to play any game plan well.

Thanks, Gronk.

I’m not brave (in that twisted way you have to be to do something so painful) enough to do anything but i don’t have any attachment to life. There is nothing i am living for as such. I was ready to go at 20 to be honest......

I wish i had an ounce of your positivity but this club has destroyed me too much in the past.......

But maybe things will change in future. Not everyday can be sunny.

Those six games.
Sharks 14 - Eels 4. 1 try a piece, Sharks 1/1 conversion, 4/4 PG's. Eels 0/1 conversion (Moses)
Eels 6 - Penrith 12. 1 try a piece. Penrith 1/1 conversion, 3/3 PG's, Eels 1/1 conversion (Moses)
Sharks 22 1 Eels 20. 4 tries a piece. Sharks 2/4 conversions, 1/1 PG. Eels 2/4 conversion (Moses)
Bulldogs 20 - Eels 12. 2 tries a piece. Dogs 2/2 conversions, 4/4 PG's. Eels 2/2 conversions (Moses)
Dragons 20 - Eels 18. 3 tries a piece. Saints 3/3 conversions, 1/1 PG. Eels 3/3 conversions (Gutho)
Knights 18 - Eels 16. 3 tries a piece, Knights 2/3 conversions, 1/1 PG. Eels 2/3 conversions (Gutho).

Never looked like winning against Panthers or Sharks imo. Blew it against Dragons and Dogs.

I am a pretty big NFL fan and love the Colts. The last few years have been lean but we have a new coach and our QB is back from injury so this season is shaping up to be positive.

Cool. I plan to follow the Colts closely this season because I am a big Notre Dame football fan (South Bend Indiana) and you guys will have Quentin Nelson who is going to help make life easy for Andrew Luck and also Matthias Farley who played safety for the Irish.
I spent a week in Indiana last year and absolutely loved the place. They are obsessed with the Australian accent. We are like celebrities over there.

Hopefully Luck gets fit.

Is that the whole point?
I think we should get a thread going about what exactly structure is. Is it "shape"? Is it the defined roles for each position? Is it what the player has to do on each play?....

Fair point. I don't actually consider 'one out shit up the middle' to be highly structured footy. It is actually extremely contingent footy, with expansive play contingent on a quick play-the-ball. It's just that with very few quick play-the-balls we don't get to see much of the unstructured footy that should result from giving it to Sandow/Roberts/Hayne off the back of a quick play-the-ball. But that was certainly the desired endstate. Unfortunately the unstructured stuff requires good go-forward, which we lacked. Conversely the structured stuff requires smart playmakers, which we also lacked.

Highly structured is actually how we play now (or did the past few years), with a lot of planned shifts early in the count. This requires smart players at a number of positions, however when confidence is down everybody gets dumber, from a footballing perspective. I'm sure this is one of our major problems this year, though only one of them.
