Might wanna tell your boys that, grappling around the head isn't allowed anymore either, they got penalised a few times for it tonight and I saw many more times where they should have as well. It became costly for the Raiders. I thought they have potential, but there catching and passing coach might wanna have a good look at himself. And how could you call the knights the worst side in the comp Bay, it's only round 1.??

yea fair enough darko .... maybe I should wait till round 5 or somethin to air the laundry

Withers drops the ball after we were on a roll ... Knights in 30 secs later and follow up with another to win

Same ol, same ol, same ol ... dropped ball, headless attack ....

a well coached side ?? ... I'll reserve my judgement

we've just played the worst side in the NRL and we lost dismally .

better luck next week ... over and out

Worst Side? Please.... We completely dominated Canberra

Unlucky tonight guys. I think there were a lot of forward passes on both sides that weren't penalised, unfortunately one of ours led to try for you guys (although I thought your 2nd one was forward, might have been me). Refereeing in general was horrible.

Unlucky Raiders fans ('cept Skeepe LOL!) and better luck next time. Go Knights :D

Apey I tend to agree that the reffing was a bit on the nose with the Raiders probalby smelling it a bit more than the Knights but quite frankly that is not the reason we lost ....

... it is only part of the reason which we compound two fold with an error rate that is not consistent with a team that is a true contender for premiership honours.

Maybe next week we can turn it around but a performance such as tonights doesnt burn the fire in my stomach.

1316 vs 838 metres gained...

Offloads 14 to 7

The offloads killed you guys as well as some early tackle count errors. The other stats were slightly in favor of Newcastle, but only by the barest of margins. The Knights also made Carney do a lot of defending early, at one point early in the second half he was 3rd for the raiders with 18 tackles (22 all up for the game), a pretty amazing stat. On the other hand Dureau who probably should have been targeted a lot was able to get away with only 6 tackles for the game. I think Smith pulled one over Henry here with the Bailey selection mid week.

That ref is sh*thouse. He f**ked both teams consistently. Wicks and Fa'aso punished your forwards I thought. Colin Best is a fairy and Campese is a sook. Carney was the only player who turned up for you tonight. Good luck for the rest of the season.

great, for the second year running we are going to look like the most inept team in round 1. Henry better sort this crap out and show us why he is such hot property.

I'd feel a lot more confident about our potential to improve this year if we weren't making exactly the same mistakes as 2007.

Somehow the idea that ball control is not necessary in away games has been ingrained into our players' mindsets.

Like many games last year, we showed glimpses of what we can do, only to see the good work come undone by fundamental errors.

I think opposition teams realise now that all they have to do is control the ball and we will inevitably crack under the weight of our own mistakes.

i mean FFS we should have won that game if all the disgraceful decisions didnt happen
we were within 4 points of them at the back end of the game and we were on a roll, they were dead on their feet.

Until something stupid happened like poor ball control.
That lets us down all the time, its a kick in the gut when the players do this,as most of the time the opposition usually hurt us with points.

Its something henry is really going to have to address at training, otherwise we will get no where in 2008.

Cut out the stupid mistakes and the stupid penalties,ie lying in ruck, taking too long to get back, offside and a few grapple tackles.

If all that is done, and we have decent officials officiating the match than we will be a very hard team to beat.

You can take some positives out of tonight though Raiders.

Firstly, the referee was terrible, his time allowed in the ruck was a disgrace. Went both ways, but your one out hard running quick play style suffered.

Agree with darkness about the wrestle. You probably won the wrestle, but if a decent referee was on duty, you would have been on the end of a bag of penalties for head control.

Seriously, by rating the Knights so low, you take away a lot from your teams efforts tonight. To be honest the scor line flattered the Knights somewhat.

I think neither side will be wooden spoon, and both will cause problems for most teams throughout the year.

Completely Dominated.

5 trys to 3 on the back of a sh*thouse refereeing performance against a team that practically beat itself in the second half and also only had 2 reserves for much of the game.

Don't delude yourself champ.

Knights lost Simpson early and Patterson early in the second, so you can put a line through that excuse.

The referee was poor, it went both ways.

Raiders didnt throw away the second half, Knights simply ironed out a few problems and controlled the ball better.

You are right though, you were not dominated.

I think you need to look past the endless excuses, place the blame firmly where it belongs and build on the positives from last night.

You will beat Penrith.
