Robbie Farah gone?

Taylor has caused the fuss. When drama around Potter and Farah happened, Potter ignored it and just did his job. He gave the rumours no oxygen and just laughed them off.

Taylor has given this issue legs. He's made up bullshit excuses, they've issued press releases about Farah being dropped. The entire club has made this a vastly more massive issue then it should be. That wasn't Farah's doing. He doesn't issue press releases, or demand to play off the bench, or in reggies.

Taylor wasted money on signing Ballin just to try and force Farah out. All it's done, as I expected, is force out Cherrington instead.

This whole mess all began when the club was backloading contracts like f**king crazy and then realised they were up shit creek, so they approached Farah several times to take a paycut while they approached Benji as well, less often, to do the same. Farah was gauranteed he'd be repaid the money in a backdated deal of his own.

He did the right thing by the club by taking the cut to help them stay under the cap. But when it's his turn to received his long overdue money, the club wants to arsehole him and not pay him out.

That is what's called a merkin act.

Farah should never be earning the coin he's on. He's way overpriced. But that wasn't Farah's doing, so he is very much entitled to stay and take his cash.

The coach is so f**king limited, that he can't find a way to get any value out of Farah. That speaks volumes about Taylor.

I personally don't want either of them here, but I completely understand and accept Farah's decision to dig his heels in.
You have summed it up perfectly.Robbie is our best option at 9 but he is being paid too much, JT is a ego driven fool and instead of admitting he is wrong would rather destroy our season to prove a point

Yep. Problem is we'll be left with Liddle as our hooker with about 30 mins of nrl experience.

If we never signed Ballin and used Farah for 55 mins per game, cherrington and liddle could've got regular game time off the bench this year and next. Then move Farah on and you have two experienced young hookers ready to go. Taylor has f**ked up so much at this club in his obsession with getting rid of Farah.

Wests Tigers need to settle up with Robbie Farah so the NRL club can settle down
Published: July 27, 2016 - 6:52AM

The Wests Tigers should pay Robbie Farah whatever money he is owed, thus allowing everyone to get on with their lives. Please spare the game from the headlines of this ridiculous public spat.

Let me say right from the outset that I regard Robbie Farah as a mate. I have personally witnessed the tremendous work he has done away from the playing field in using his profile to raise money for so many worthwhile causes. He is a quality person.

I also have a great deal of time for Tigers coach Jason Taylor. We may not agree with a coach's selection decisions from time to time, but I will defend to the hilt the right of any coach to select the team he thinks can win football games.

It goes without saying that the Wests Tigers are a massive brand in our game. They don't need this rubbish. Nor do they need to be choosing sides here in some battle of wills to resolve such a difficult situation.

This spat is about the salary cap. It's about Robbie's back-ended and now very expensive playing contract and the Tigers wanting to remove this player from their roster.

It's not Robbie's fault his contract was constructed this way. He was owed money and this is how the club chose to restructure the deal. Now the contract amount is a burden to the club. All Robbie wants is the money to which he is entitled.

Suck it up. Pay the man his money. Allow him to leave with the respect he deserves, in return for the service he has given the club.

Concentrate on the players you have now and keep building this great club for the future, as you are no doubt trying to. Twelve months goes by pretty quickly. By season 2018, the Tigers can be in a wonderful position.

Yeah, this latest effort by the JT & the club has really notched it up. I support JT's right to make the calls as coach as he will effectively live and die by them (his competency to the job does not factor in respect to that,) but Farah off the bench was working well IMO and there was no real need to make this move.

One thing will be determined in the next few weeks though, and that will be whether Moses and Brooks will be able to take control of the team and steer them around ably. It may have some unintended positive consequences.

Until both go, any time there is unrest in the club it will be "Farah undermining another coach," or "JT falling out with another player." They are both toxic now, problem is that no other club will take Farah on at a reasonable fare because both his and the clubs actions have devalued him to the point where other clubs likely see him as a liability.

It's a shame really, because it should never have ended like this.

So are you saying you believe Taylor has handled this situation well ?

I wouldnt go so far as to say he handled it well, I think that these mindgames are dishonorable across the entire NRL. Contracts are contracts. However, theres no proof thats even the case. Maybe JTjust wants Robbie to shape up, whoknows.

That said, hes just done the exact thing that Gould, Bennett, Des have all done recently. Why is this any different?

It hasnt been handled beter, nor worse

id find it surorising if no other team takes him at 300k.

I have a feeling that Farah is fishing for an extended deal. 2/3 year effort. Thats the holdup.

Saints, cronulla, bulldogs, parra and maybe even the rabbits and Newcastle are all nearby clubs who you'd think would JUMP at Farah on the cheap.

Farah will be valued by the NRL at a certain value for another club to register a new contract. $300K might be too low for the NRL, so that may be another reason why another suitor hasn't presented themselves.

I don't think he needs to go, he has his contract, he certainly doesn't owe the club anything after this long drawnout debacle. Let the club advise sponsors etc, why they are paying a reserve grade player $950k per year. Meriton's will be tickled pink, I'm sure.

That 250 milestone was a gift horse to Taylor. Put on a show, ticker tape parade. Make him feel a million bucks. Work out a deal.

Of course they would register a contract with another club paying $300k......with the rest of the $900k total paid by the Tigers for next year

It was my understanding that certain players cannot have new contracts registered at such low values (i.e. players have minimum values attached to them.) Maybe that only applies for bringing players back from other codes etc. I must admit I'm a bit grey on that.

Farahs Value would be $900k though, as he is being paid by 2 parties.
There is no way they would allow a low contract, but then again he is aging, isn't really a game changer anymore and is at the back end of his career.

He could be game changing, at the right club. That said, if Ennis was only on 350K, then no reason why Farah couldn't be on the books for something similar at another club for next season.

That helps the Tigers, as it allows them to get someone else in, and get rid of a distraction to the club. While another club may or may not find out what Farah is worth to them. Just depends on if Farah wants to play for another club, or he is stubborn enough to dig his heals in and leave his legacy at the club as the biggest dummy spit ever. I'm still thinking it's the later, hopefully wiser heads have a word in his ear.

Who cares abou tthis 250 business?
300 is the magic number.
250 is quite arbitrary.

As I've said the situation is terminal at the club, both will eventually have to make way for the club to truly get over it and move on.

Farah should move on now to get a fresh start elsewhere and give the last years of his footy some meaning rather than wasting away for a season in reserve grade to prove a point. JT needs a big year and a bit to even come into consideration for a contract extension at Wests, or be viewed as a possible candidate elsewhere.

Ideally, Farah would be moved on with a reasonable portion of his contract offered elsewhere and give another club some quality football, Wests can shore up their roster with the funds freed, JT can make a dash at the finals in his last contracted year and leave the club in better condition than he received it, for a quality coach to take the reins and make us a consistent finals contender.

That is my hope, at least.
