I agree. My only concern is when he is teamed with Mortimer. The track record of him getting any support from his #6 then is not good.

Don't get me wrong guys, I want Mortimer to succeed. Nothing would make me happier than for him to prove me wrong and guide Parramatta to a successful season. As I have said many times, I will be more than happy to come onto this forum & eat Humble pie should this happen... ;-)

Go the Eels!

WOE

My sentiments exactly, WOE. Although there`s only one brand of Humble pie I want to see. ;-)

Like more than Humble, Murray, Bruest etc have shown. They have also made a Grand Final. No matter how you look at it, Humble, Murray and Bruest or whoever have not shown enough to knock Mortimer and Robson out of the starting halves. Even though Humble is the greatest player ever to live after Hayne...
McGuire maybe, but he is better suited to 9.

Please explain how you think Humble deserves first crack? Look, if say after Round 3 we average 10 points a game or so then I agree, Humble or someone else should be brought in. At the moment, you can't drop a Grand Finalist for a rookie.[/QUOTE]

No; but you can drop a guy who hasn`t done ANYTHING for twelve months, surely? Anyway, Anderson should have dropped him AGES ago, but he didn`t and that`s history. I`ll support whoever is selected. Come on, Morts, show us what you`ve got!

Solution, play Hindy at 7 because he can tackle. No disrespect to Robson, but he is the worst 7 in the NRL and I don't buy all this grand final in 09, because that was a once in a lifetime run on the back of a couple of players.

Hope against hope he proves me wrong, but if that 6 and 7 play alongside each other it will be a very long season, how we need a 7.

We need a 6, Dellboy. We need a 6.

No it wont be a long season. Last season was all because of daniel anderson as most on here & our current board & ceo have told us.

If we fail i will only blame kearney & no one else

I don't want this thread to segue into a discussion about the Board, DA etc. But I think that the chopping and changing last year hurt the team.

If Robson is the halfback then play him there for the whole season. But if there is a better option then go with that and stick with it. But lets not have seven games of Robson, then five games of Humble, then Mortimer at half for five games before a few games with Breust. That would mean we'll be unsettled and we won't make the top 8.

I'm not panicking or anything, but I'd rather we really backed a player long term instead of hedging our bets.

Fair point. But I hope the coach doesn`t stick stubbornly to something if it isn`t working. There`s a bit of a balancing act between too much change and not enough change, I suppose. By the way, this year might settle the argument one way or the other regarding 'the board, CEO', etc. If Kearney sticks with Mortimer all year, even if he plays poorly, then the conspiracy theorists will have a much stronger and more legitimate argument. If Kearney drops Mortimer because of poor form, it will probably point to Anderson having been solely responsible for Mortimer`s continued selection this year. The only thing that will cloud the issue entirely, is if Mortimer comes good and has a stellar season. Then we`ll never know. Wouldn`t that be terrible?:lol:

Disagree. If the player chosen doesn't perform as required then of course they should be dropped and an alternative be given a shot. No-one is indespensible. You can't just have a halfback playing mediocre for 5 or 6 weeks and then just stick with him regardless for the remainder of the season. THAT would mean we'd miss the 8. If you perservere with under-performing players. This is professional sport here, you cannot take those chances.

Don't read to much into the article, do you think Kearney really has told Mortimer and Robson they will the starting halves come round one - I don't think so!!! It would be most stupid thing a coach would any do considering we have a whole bunch of players fighting it out for the 6,7 and 9 positions. He will try several options in the trials before he makes his decision

I bet he just means the positions are there if they are good enough!!!

Maybe his contract stipulated he be picked in firsts for 2010 only. Then we will never know.

I like Jeff Robson for some reason, even when he plays like a donkey i don't mind because he seems like he was born in super fun happy land.

I think it's more to do with we feel sorry for him.

He still has to do landscaping to make ends meet while a freshy winery dude earns 5 times his salary and delivers sweet f' all.

Not for a rookie who hasn't done anything for 12 months.

How are rookies supposed to get better and prove themselves if they're not given the oppurtunity in first grade in the first place. Robson was given that oppurtunity, why not Humble?

this is good stuff......

although they are being given first crack - and rightfully so - its not a given that they will start there or stay there.......if you're good enough is the key phrase
and i want Robson and Morts to show us they are good enough

and look, Peter Sterling is my hero, hands down my hero.....and i know he gave Humble huge wraps, but really he has done nothing....ok nothing.....
so until he does and earns the 6 or 7 for Parramatta, guys please lay off the man love hor him.......

and Mr Angry needs to get a spare room, a picture of Humble and some sorborlene and a towell, i mean seriously, he has got it bad for the kid.....

Yeah, I think that`s by far the most likely explanation too. But it must be giving Dellboy nightmares!
