Despite this, I cant deny the fact that for the RWC final, the majority of the nation was interested, not to mention the majority of England. Most of em were downright enthralled. Even non-sports fans. I cant remember a league game ever doing this. When you talk about scale, leaugue just cant match that, yet.
The RWC was a great event no dispute.
The final being close gave it excitement yes. I watched the final, I watched a lot of it. I gave it a go.
The conclusion was
1. People love an event. Only the diehards bet the week following the Melbourne cup.
2. Australia can put on an event.
3. Kicking is the most important thing.
4. What a waste of skillful ball runners and tacklers.
5. 15 on the field is too many when played at the highest level.
6. When in doubt kick.
7. A winger touches the ball f**k all, and usually kicks it!
8. A 70 - 8 score line with some tries is a better spectacle than a 12-6 scoreline (all scored from kicks naturally)
9. Stop, Start, Stop, Start, Stop, Start, Stop, Start, Stop blowing the whistle.
10. I see why Union ranks a distant third to RL and AFL in this country. It's a scrappy game of consistant disputed possession, decided by the team with the best kicker.
11. The English won it, it must be crap.

A game, of that scale, being that close, would be the highlight of any players career.
I thought the win against the All Blacks was the highlight myself.
If you captured all the film of when Matt actually has the ball in hand for his entire career in union, it would be a 10 min package, 5 mins of him kicking the ball.

Can you see my point that he may lack motivation to go back down the ladder of achievement and play NRL for the Sharks?
 Interesting view, lets hope we win a premiership without him. If coming runner-up in the RWC side, or those awe inspiring Waratahs games keep him challenged, I am happy for him. Easy money.

I hope like hell he does. I really do, but I honestly cant see him busting his nuts to do so.
Mate as I say he can stay where he is, I want hungry players seeking the grail. Matt is all class but only welcome back, as long as we do not pay through the nose, he would be soft after all that standing around.
But here are the facts.
Matt said he wanted to be closer to the action, he was bored on the wing. Fair enough. I contend to you he sees a lot less action in union.
He also went for a different challenge. I contend any SoO standard league back would make the wallabies, that was a given not a challenge.
Matt was a better match in Union than Wendell and Lote because he can kick.
He went for the pay also.
He is perfectly entitled to do so. I perfectly entitled to remember.
Like his father before him, we will survive without him. Sludge sort and received redemption.
Sludge junior remains a union player.

Mate this disclaimer is just for you.
*Said really really fast*
On the left is my NIC, everything you see typed next to that NIC is ' For Me ' in that I typed it, it is of my opinion.
I am the official spokesmen for the Commonwealth of Angriness Population: 1 - me. No-one else.
I dislike union a lot, because I see a lot talent wasted- except the short fat useless guys. You are perfectly entitled to like what I see as crap.
