We have to fit 25 blokes under the cap not 17 so they all cant be super stars. If we get rid of Rogers we would just have to replace him with someone else.

Id be surprised if he is on muck more than $75K. At that price we really couldn't ask for a player of better quality really

Hit the nail on the head. Loves the place, willing to stay for less and doesn't mind being a fringe first grader. Nice.

Just don't let him near our no.6 jersey full time.:D

I think Mullen is the one who should be worried by this re-signing. Rogers has the skills to make 5/8 his own and his defence is very good. If we get Beau Henry (prayers) then he and dodge as a half combo could be very interesting indeed.

I think potential wise Mullen craps all over Rogers. Mullen's defence is good to. I hope Mullen steps up this year as the year goes on.

I was quite critical of him (I still am) but he had a hand in alot of our tries against the Broncos. I think he is slowly getting there but compared to Lockyer (who seems to be playing the game at his own pace all the time) Mullen is still really far off. Obvoius I know:crazy:

Yeah Mullen's the first 5/8th to let in a try close to the line in the history of the game. Terrible defence eh Mac?

Not at all - but that is like saying its fine that Scotty is a slug who is built like an oompa loompa, because after all Tommy Raudonikis was no olympic sprinter either.

The try mullo let in was soft - poor technique met lack of commitment. Even giving away the size difference he had plenty of opportunity to at least wrap the ball up, if not stop him getting over the line - first contact wasn't exactly on the line.

I feel for Mullen atm. He is definitely in a slump or we have really over-rated him. He seems over coached at the moment... making the right moves but getting nothing to show for it.

Mullen has played origin and has potential, ROgers will never make a rep team in his life and if we win a premiership with him at 5/8th I'll deadset walk the Nullabor.
Mullen has too much pressure on him IMO to pull off the winning play because he's got clowns alongside him. If Mullen was playing for the Storm or someone decent he'd be a superstar. I think his struggles this year have culminated with Kids being on the sidelines and De Gois being abit rusty so he's forced to take on an extra burden.
If he had a good halfback to take the pressure off him he'd be able to play whats in front of him and take the line on instead of having to manufacture miracles.
If (I highly doubt it) we sign Beau Henry and partner him with Ben Rogers we might as well tell the kids to kiss his career goodbye.
Dodge's defence is acceptable and he's got a decent running game but his kicking game is trash, his vision ain't the best and he comes up with more dumb plays in a season than most players do in a career

Mullen has clown's alongside him? He overplays his hand and his kicking game is inconsistent. Five years all we have heard is how great he is going to be. Forgive me for being a little doubtful.

Yeah his kicking game is abit enigmatic, but compared to Rogers' kicking game he's Andrew Johns.
I agree he tends to overplay his hand but really what else can he do, he's not a natural ball player, he's a fantastic ball runner but because our coaching staff have so much confidence in Rogers and Dureau, Mullen has to try and play outside his comfort zone.
In our current set up Mullen will always be the dominant half because Dureau and Rogers are sh!te but that's not what he's good at, he's good at picking his spots and using his running game

Aqua I want Mullo to be great, as do you. Make no mistake my friend. I think at centre he would play for his country as I agree his running game is close to world class.

I see Mullo as Ben Roberts and he really needs a strong halfback like Kimmorley so he can just provide a backup kicking option and pick his spots when he wants to inject himself.

I feel at centre alot of his strengths won't be utilised, eg his long kicking game and his passing game. I still think 5/8th is his position but needs a good half next to him. Outside that I think he could be a decent fullback (in attack anyway)

MERCURIAL playmaker Ben Rogers is considering a two-year offer from the Newcastle Knights and is tipped to re-sign in the next few days.

LOL.
