He will oust Lockyer as 5/8.

i missed the news up-date, has lockyer just be reported as being dead?

We don't have that many specialist wingers. And he's a better goal kicker than Smith or Locky.

So maybe. It all depends on where he plays for the Titans.

Thurston does the kicking.....& as for specialist wingers i would take someone out of the Qld cup over that broken down over the hill hack.

I forgot Thurston.

I can already picture Goose Gould complaining about QLD not picking specialist wingers.

It'll take time to adjust to the NRL, he's been playing fatty footy for a few years now.

IMO Rogers will adjust very quickly and play some good league this year...he is a naturally skilled league player and will kill a lot of sides this year with his kicking and pace.

I doubt he'll kill anyone.

Rogers has been playing Union so he's far more familiar with catching colds at the end of useless backlines than hitting the ball up or tackling.

About the only thing he'll have is his kicking which he had to do plenty of in Union.

He'll be lucky if he cements a first grade spot.

Matt Rogers won't play State of Origin - I think you will find he has no interest in representative football. He said as much on a TV interview when signing the first Gold Coast contract, I think he will reiterate his stance once the season starts.

I haven't read this thread but if Adam Mogg and Josh Hannay did last year then there is no reason why Rat can't!

Mogg performed gret for the Maroons. Top 5 player overall.
Hannay only played as the maroons were hammered with injuries in the backs.
No Hunt, Inglis, Hodges, Bell for game 3...or Tonga for the whole series.

Rogers only gets in if there is a crisis with injuries again.

i actually think hes a certainty. was surprised at the amount of people writing him off.

hes a professional, he will handle the switch easily, he should play fullback for QLD, but i wont be surprised to see him as a 5/8 - fullback to protect lockyer in defense.

The codes arnt THAT different to play. i actually play both and have no problem with switching between both, then again im not playing in the NRL

I think you will see something like this.

1. Rogers
2. Slater
3. Hodges
4. Inglis
5. Hunt
6. Lockyer
7. Prince (yes, thats right, Prince.)

i think your smoking sumthing funny, hunt will not play on the wing, fullback or nothing. Hodges in the centres with tate imo, wingers will be inglus and Ty (if he doesnt find his form there are plenty of players like tonga, slater etc). Rogers has to cement a 1st grade spot, do they know where he will play at the titans they have a 5-8 and fullback, and his defence is sh*t house, he would be a liability in the centres, wouldnt play a 31 year old on the wing either.
