No i don't think so. If he does he'll certainly have to work for it.

If Lote comes back in 08 he'll be back in Maroon no worries.

These the players that i believe would be in contention for the 5 Backs spots:

K.Hunt
J.Hodges
B.Tate
W.Tonga
S.Bell
B.Slater
G.Inglis
M.Bowen
T.Williams
R.Wesser
S.Berrigan

With so much competition i doubt Rogers would get a look in.

I would imagine the side back line would look something like this:
1. Hunt
2. Inglis
3. Hodges
4. Tate
5. Williams
6. Lockyer
7. Thurston

Though I would prefer
1. Inglis
2. Slater
3. Hodges
4. Tonga
5. Williams
6. Lockyer
7. Thurston
14. Bowen

Only place Rogers could hope to get picked for QLD is on the wing. To do that, he'll have to play on the wing for the Titans, and play bloody well.. ie show that he can make good defensive reads and make good use of his experience, he will get looked at I think. We have a ferocious backline but it would be nice to have a wise head AND specialist winger in the back 5, and the selectors should take that into consideration.

Is Gringlis really a certainty if he plays 5/8th for the Storm? From fullback/centre to wing is plausible, but from 5/8th to the wing is a HUGE switch at Origin level ..

Slater is useless on the wing and has been exposed before by the larger NSW wingers.

Hunt
Tate
Hodges
Bell/Tonga
Inglis
Lockyer
Thurston

QLD 3-0

As for Bowen he can play.........left right out.

You're comfortable with Inglis going from 5/8th at Melbourne to the wing in Origin?

He'd have to really....like really prove himself if he was going to knock Lockyer out of the 5/8 spot.
I mean he'd have to really prove himself to even be a contender in the running for a position in Origin.
The guy's not a bad player but he's just come back to league and there are so many talented young players with their eyes on Origin.
I can see it happening if we get injuries though...

I doubt very much that rogers would ever play origin again, but if by some freak of nature he does get a call up, there is no chance in hell he would ever oust the QLD captain from his preferred position. Personally i believe Lockyers best position is still Fullback but thats another debate thats been done to death, my point is that regardless of where you think Lockyer should play, he now owns the 5/8 position and nobody (especially Rogers) is going to shaft him from it.
