RMC Round 9

Mounties 36 (S Aiga, J Walsh, T Glassie, S Bristow, M Morris, M Place tries; Aiga 6 goals) bt Windsor Wolves 4 (A Cartisano try)
Guildford Owls 34 (J Tuiatahi 3, H Hunt 2, C Porter, S Shackleton tries; T Evans 3 goals) bt Western Suburbs Magpies 28 (S Gallant 2, B Lazarus 2, T Morrison tries; Gallant 4 goals)
Blacktown Workers 48 (B Batiste 2, J Taaga, T Mapesone, P Kiri Kava, J Hall, S Waqa, A Tauiloili-Pelesasa tries; A Seini 8 goals) bt Concord Burwood 25 (D Chang, J Flint, K Sione, T Tuiletufuga tries; M Mundine 4 goals; Mundine field goal)
Asquith Magpies 21 (M Pearsall, T Young, M Daud, J Markato tries; Daud 2 goals; B Fisher) bt Auburn Warriors 16 (T McGrady 2, M Morton tries; A Little 2 goals)
Cabramatta Two Blues 46 (S Fisher Grey 2, J Grey, D Barakat, J Davis, G Goodwin, M Mamay, J Jackson tries; Goodwin 7 goals) bt Kingsgrove Colts 12 (B Mullins, V Tsikrikas tries; C Willis 2 goals)

With the NSWRL running an 8 team finals series out 11 teams, I suppose you always have a chance but with Wests and Concord Burwood only having 1 win so far they look like the 2 to miss out.

Masada Iosefa played for Concord Burwood today.

SS Round 9

Mounties 42 (B Donlan 2, B Speechley 2, S Balekolo, M Green, L Speechley, L Aiono tries; B Newton 5 goals) bt Windsor Wolves 30 (L Geyer 2, L Jackson, M Sini, G Hodgins, D Barron tries; D f**kas 2, Jackson
goals)
Peninsula Seagulls 56 (V Ngaro 3, J Pickering 2, T Leatherby 2, W Bishop, G Palau, J Marshall tries; Ngaro 8 goals) bt Western Suburbs Magpies 16 (J Iroa, F Peni, T Moli Vea tries; T Tie Tie 2 goals)
Asquith Magpies 32 (A Kalcina 3, B Mooney, J Burchell, C Rennie tries; B Horder 4 goals) bt Auburn Warriors 22 (A El Zakhem 2, K Krisansky, A Sorge tries; Krisansky 3 goals)
Hills District Bulls 12 (A Weston 2 tries; J Boustani 2 goals) drew with Guildford Owls 12 (F Lasalo, M Lavu Lavu tries; L O'Brien 2 goals)
Blacktown Workers 32 (D Smith, B Goodman, B Dunscombe, S Lipano, C Latulipe, T Tamaariki-Amosa tries; Goodman 4 goals) bt Belrose Eagles 24 (D Reti 2, A Halstead, C Murphy, T Matthews tries; Murphy 2 goals)

East Campbelltown 58 Cabramatta 18.

The two leaders maintained their spots despite a loss and a draw respectively. East Campbelltown and Peninsula moved from 7th and 8th to 3rd and 4th with easy wins - Vinny Ngaro scoring 28 points for the Seagulls and Ben Baker 30 points for East Campbelltown.

At the other end Wests are bottom but have managed 2 wins and a draw - but suffer with variable availability with their NYC players while Asquith with the same number of points have a PD of -66 meaning their average result is an 8 point loss, so clearly a competitive team.

There will be plenty of surprises in this grade.

Watched the Hills v Guildford game, not a great game but Hills led by 6 points with minutes to go but came up with a number of errors that allow Guildford to score basically on the bell wide out, great sideline conversion to level it up.

Hills have plenty of talent but I'm still undecided how far they will go. They seem to want to throw the miracle ball when it is not on and have basic errors in them. They should have been able to close that game out.

I thought the hills vs guildford game was a real hard defensive game that saw limited attacking opportunities due to some really great defensive efforts from both sides hence the low score line. Yes there were a few mistakes in the game but put that down to stifling defence by both teams. Have to disagree with you magpie in saying it wasnt a great game but from a guildford point of view it was their most satisfying display and effort this year especially with a very young side full of 20's.... but i understand if u meant not a great game from hills as i was expecting a better display from them. After the match during the presentation of the nathan gremmo shield, the hills captain did say it was by far their toughest match this year which is a credit to the guildford side.

No, full credit to Guildford.

I just think Hills are capable of more open controlled attack than they threw at the opposition yesterday.

Maybe the lost of the young clubman and the day had more of an effect on the team than expected.

As many would be aware a day based on tragedy can go two ways, in the end the draw was a fitting result.

Agreed magpie I was expecting a better performance but I guess that is the nature of the competition, anybody can beat anyone on their day.

It was a tragedy the loss of Nathan's life and so young aswell. My prayer's go out to the family. It was great to see the league community come together to celebrate the young man's life. Seeing a few 1st grade faces that were bulls juniors was great to see.

Seems to be a bit of a gap between Mounties, Wenty and Asquith in Massey vs the rest of the pack. They make up the top three and have at least one game in hand each on the rest of the top 8 (though for Wenty and Asquith it's against each other). Mounties have looked the best in the opening couple of months, but you'd have to think unless someone else mounts a charge it'll come down to these 3 in September.

Windsor were looking the goods but were quite comfortably handled by Asquith and Mounties in consecutive weeks.

Mounties choke in grand finals so you'd think Wenty will regain possession of the RMC. Wests have fallen a lot from last year and that's due to the non-existant pathway to Wests Tigers NSW Cup and possibly first grade. They lost several good talents to other sides (namely the Bristow brothers to Mounties iirc) and their player of the year to Newcastle (in the UK). It's a shame because they could have had a huge tilt at the title if they'd retained last year's squad.

Hence the exodus. Rumour was that the coach of the NSW Cup side didn't view RMC players as 'capable' in NSW Cup unless absolutely necessary to fill injuries (he'd prefer to cover with NYC players). I believe that's now defunct as WESTS have a Wests Tigers logo on the back of their jerseys to at least give the impression of their being a pathway.

ah yeah, but the excess wt under 20s and nsw cup players were meant to go to western suburbs ron massey cup side (or even the western suburbs sydney shield side if the player is struggling that much). so where did the excess end up going???

There are 2 or 3 in the RMC and one week there were about 10 in the SS team and the next week only 1 so they must just do nothing.

I'm sure there was a few NYC WTs players in the SS side the day Hills blew them off the park. About Round 2 or 3.

I think you'll find Wenty SS side is on 10 points.

Hard to tell who's on what some teams having played 10 games, others 9, Hills and Peninsula 8 and Wenty 7.

It is hard to keep up because several teams in both grades have been wrong on the NSWRL website for weeks. They even have Kingsgrove losing to the bye!

We have had 10 rounds, Wenty have 2 deferred so that is 8 games and they have lost 2 to Hills and Wests so I am pretty sure that makes 12 points. I believe the weekly program has the correct points.
