Just back from the Sydney Shield, Hills Bulls vs Asquith game. This bulls side looks like being a serious contender if they can hold their discipline together. 52-8.

An Asquith player was marched in the 1st minute, so what does a Hills player do as he walks off - has a go at him. Hills player off as well. Dumb, dumb play.

Dean McGlinchey from North Sydney Bears was the Asquith player sent. Could play NRL if he had half a brain.

McGlinchey came crom the Bulldogs NYC and was at Penrith for a little bit after graduating I don't think much of him makes costly errors every time I see him play

He has had plenty of chances. He went to Manly after the Bulldogs and ended up with a Sydney Shield title with Belrose and then went to Mounties and played most of the games in SS before departing mid season and now he has gone to North Sydney and back in SS again with Asquith.

He can be penetrative at SS level if he plays in the centres having both size and speed and can kick goals too.

Never seen him play before and still haven't given it was about a minute in, but I know one thing. He can't fight, got sat on his backside by the Hills player.

What did he go for? My guess - an eye gouge. I was up the other end of the field.

Tried to knee the half back James Boustani in the head apparently. That sparked the first all in, then had another go on the way off. Dont know if you saw but he back tracked hard after he threw a punch too.

Yeah, I seen the Hills prop (No10: I think) front him. Dean Mc then swung the first punch (it missed) than bang he got sat but the Bulls lost a player too. Poor discipline, if I was the Hills coach I would have been real pissed.

Despite the scoreline Kingsgrove improved quite a lot in their game against Wentwothville. The score actually was not a good representation of the difference between the teams (I know its easy to say that).
The Colts managed to hang on to the ball and give away fewer penalties than they have in the previous weeks.
Both teams were very frustrated by some extremely below par refereeing.

Its an improvement, but only one step. Lets hope they keep getting better

They are in the wrong grade - what is an acceptable result - lose by 30?

Kingsgrove should be a Sydney Shield side. Getting whipped on a weekly basis is not beneficial to the development of their players, or a good image for the division as a whole. 10 teams with a top 5 playoff system would be a great way to showcase the 3rd tier. Or if they must have 11-12 teams, get in some country sides (e.g. Bathurst) or an Illawarra side that could be competitive.

Illawarra sides won't step up, they are very loyal to their league. Particularly after the experiences of Shellharbour in the JBC. It is like the Newcastle comp, no-one will move.

The Illawarra comp is down to 6 teams. They asked East Campbelltown to come in last year but they went to Sydney Shield and this year they are playing a preseason knockout where 2 cronulla A grade sides made up the numbers so they could have 8 teams.

What would happen if another team folded?

RMC game has been postponed (Burwood vs Mounties).

I know Illawarra and Newcastle don't want to play in the RMC but if the NSWRL could better manage the competition (it's poorly run and that's an understatement) then I've no doubts they'd jump at the chance. Get Penrith Brothers in as well, they're dominating their local competition.

Illawarra, Newcastle, Sutherland, Penrith, bring back Entrance Tigers, drop Kingsgrove, put in Albury Thunder or Perth. 16 teams and a legit, strong 3rd-tier comp with strong contenders

Are you sure, last I heard the SS game was moved forward an hour to 1pm to cater for the RMC game being moved from Goddard to Crestwood?
