Was told over the weekend the Ron Massey Rep team playing in a few weeks in Coffs Harbour will represent the competition as a whole, rather than the best 17 available. Instead of a team featuring majority Mounties/Wenty/Asquith, each team will have 1 or 2 representatives.

is that against a qld rep side made up of their 3rd tier players??? is it brisbane cup???

What's the did between rob Massey and Sydney shield?

The premise behind it is the Ron Massey Cup is a regional competition - teams from Sydney and the regions around ole Sydney town - central coast, the gong etc; whilst the Sydney Shield is for Sydney based teams only. But in reality the shield is the reserve grade for many Ron Massey Cup sides.

Some clubs have only a team in one of the comps - ie: Hills, Kingsrove, Concord-Burwood.

Correct. Not sure on what competition(s) they're picked from though now the old FOGS third tier is gone.

The Rangers include players from all over Queensland and is picked after a tournament between Northern, Central, and two South East teams.

It looks like whoever makes themselves available is in the team. There are half a dozen decent players there but I am not sure that this team would beat any of the top 6 teams in RMC. The Rangers might be favourites.

Ron Massey Cup

Rescheduled Rd 8 match -

Wentworthville Magpies 38 (M Mamary 2, C Makelim 2, M Stevens, J Miller, D Howard tries; J Madden, B Walters 4 goals) bt Asquith 18 (S Buttel, M Pearsall, G Davis, F Tuigamalo tries; J Hawkins goal)

Sydney Shield

Rescheduled Rd 8 match

Asquith 30 (M Katia, L Hanson, J Palmer, L McDonald, T McCann tries; B Horder 5 goals) bt Wentworthville Magpies 12 (D Matterson, S Greaves tries; M Collins 2 goals)

Wenty continue marching on in RMC where Asquith seem to be falling off the pace.

Big win for Asquith Syd Shield over the competition leaders

Yeah was there last night, asquith were off the pace. Referee had a poor game i thought. Asquith 7,6,9,1 were all poor. Lacked direction and discipline.

Referee was disgraceful. Jeff Hardup, apparently viewed as the best Referee in RMC by officials, but hands down the worst by a handful of clubs. Aaron Groom made a tackle on Wenty half Jack Madden and was standing up at marker when Madden lost the ball on the ground. Hardup blew a penalty for interference in the ruck.

Queensland Rangers beat a RMC team 32-0 today. The Qld team resulted from a tournament between 4 regional teams but the RMC team would not match it with the top 6 teams in RMC.

Most clubs were entitled to put in 2 players. Blacktown have a game tomorrow so they sent a guy that was dropped to Sydney Shield last game. There were plenty of unknowns in the team.

If this is the case - i can't see the point of why the NSWRL went ahead with / sanctioned the game.

I'm sure the blokes who excel in RMC and are keen for further rep / career aspirations would be disappointed.

Certainly the Queensland administrators displayed a professional attitude by conducting a lead up championship and the players displayed the attitude and enjoyed the recognition.

On the other hand you have the NSWRL putting a video trumpeting their chances even though the team selection was stated to be sharing spots between teams instead of merit and even then despite some good players making themselves available, for several clubs the guys nominated would not be in the top 6 players in their club teams.

The Asquith and Wenty guys were backing up from a game on Thursday night. A starting point would be for the NSWRL to make a match payment available to the players.

If anyone was at McCready today please post the scores. NSWRL twitter only puts up NSW Cup scores.

I think you'll find Guildford won the SS game 23-22.

I know it is 6 weeks out but I'm going have a shot at picking the top 4 in the Sydney Shield: Wenty, Windsor, Hills and East Campbelltown.

Next four - Mounties, Pennisula, Guildford and Auburn.

Very surprising that Blacktown loss in Massey. They've been impressive lately, looking like a side that might trouble the 3 favourites come September.

I have studied the draw of the final 6 rounds and came up with my final table below - tossed in some upsets:

Wenty 34
Windsor 34
Mounties 24
Peninsula 30

Hills District 31
East Campbelltown 31
Guildford 22
Asquith 17

Blacktown 17
Auburn 23
Cabra 18
Wests 15
Belrose 14

Who will win it. Bloody big call - Hills, if they can kept their spine and bookend props fit and on the field.
