Brian Smith is excelent at filling his players with confidence. That, combined with smart tactics and an extremely good halves pairing, they are on fire. They could do it this year, but I see a fair amount of weakness in their resolve.

East's are playing well this year. As much as I like Freddy, and a legend at East's, he was never going to get the best out of East's a bit like Brown with Saints. Smith did a bit of a clean out last year.

One gamble they took was with Mini, he deserved to be resigned due to his commitment to the club. He has been able to move back to fullback and Carney into 5/8th and with a fit Braith, moving to lock. The team can go either left or right when attacking with Pearce or Carney moving it to a good finishers SK Dowall, Phil Graham and Perrett.

Smith has a bit of pressure off him with signing a long term contract. which they would have hoped with Wayne Bennett a few years ago.Smith knows what to do the turn a club around and is a fine coach, he took the Saints to 2 GF's but they were playing BNE at a time BNE was at there best.

Their forward pack is good with Anasta, Aubusson, Myles,Ryles and Conn coming of the bench.

Will be a ripper of a game next week.

All that and you didn't mention big FPN!! Guy is a monster.

Saints only hope next week against Easts is that Weyman and Fien come back in and start taking us forward, with powerful runs by Weyman, and smart dummy half play by Fien.
Dean Young wouldn't have made much of a difference yesterday I don't think.

I'm worried about what the score might look like next Sunday.

teams havent taken the dragons on in attack , they have taken them on in defence.

If the roosters try all out attack
I cant see the roosters putting on a score big enough to outscore the dragons with thier defence .

Dragons have shown when a team isnt switch on in defence they will score points.

The Roosters are at the top of thier game, we are at the bottom of ours. I think we are in trouble this week and then things may start to turnaround for us.

bulldogs and broncos score 32 and 30 against the roosters , and the bulldogs and broncos didnt defend that good either.

I dont think the roosters form is that good what people are making out.

Like with eels , when they faced a team what decided to defend (roosters) , they struggled.

Roosters form just reminds me of the eels, the dragons defence is completely different to what the roosters have been playing against

So when Roosters face the Roosters, they'll struggle? :sarcasm:

It might interest you to know that Easts are now the best attacking team in the comp ;-)

i was talking about the eels :D when i made that comment.

Yes but look at the defence of teams they played, and the roosters leaked quite a few points as well.

Aren't the Eels considered a good team defensively? Didn't seem to give the Rooster much trouble though.

Broncos were going pretty well defensively before the Roosters game also.

Really?? I think that is our strength, those wins against souths, broncos and dogs were all against adversity, mainly from the referees and in the case of the broncos game it was mostly our own fault.

I thought those results showed tremendous resolve and an extreme will to win

We know that… however you have repeatedly stated that “the roosters will struggle against defensive teams”. Notice the plural in that sentence.

Our early season form was certainly erratic, but I prefer to look at the positives in life and look at the list of teams we have beaten

Souths x 2
Wests x 2
Broncos x 2
Raiders x 2
Titans
Storm
Eels
Dogs

Out of the current top 8 we were well beaten by dragons and Penrith during that erratic period and unluckily lost to Warriors by 2 points which has sparked this 5 game winning run. We are yet to play manly

Disappointing losses to cowboys, sharks, dogs and knights in the first half of the season but we won’t have to worry about them in the finals will we…

Maybe now you will see my point

Can't compare the Roosters losses to how they are playing right now.
They have found consistency and are playing confident, attacking football, and they held Parra at bay on Saturday night for quite a few sets in a row in the 2nd half.

Not saying they'll score that many against us, but the Roosters deserve to be feeling confident and should start favorites this weekend, in my opinion.

Lookout, I think you've gotten on the famous Gaba Carousel.

It's a world where nothing is as it seems and Gabas cyclical, ill informed reasoning confuses and frustrates all who enter it.

I had a near death experience on it and live to tell the tale.

I suggest you get off sooner rather than later or risk going insane trying to reason with the one person that is too dense to reason with.
