Morrison was a benchie at the Cowboys. Have a look at their final team sheets for 2004.

Parra offered nothing more for Tahu than Manly.

When was the last time Parra signed 2 current Origin players, or another club captain?

BTW, Kiwi, brisbane bought the comp in '97.
Morrison was coming back from a long term injury and only played in the semis after a lengthy time on the sidelines.

On the Roosters drop 7 to sign 2 saga.

It has yet to be confirmed, but people are saying in the signing topic that Daniel Dumas and Charlie Tonga have signed with the Roosters also.

So it could stand at drop 7 to sign 4, and now it's starting to look dodge.

FFS!! Look at your own roster Kiwi. I know QLD is cheap as chips, but how do you guys afford your roster of SOO and Internationals every bloody year. Here's a clue....Broom Broom.

Here's the truth, we develop our own players, the Roosters should try it some time.

Give us our junior base back and we will. In the interim we'll attract the best prospective talent even from under your state monopolising noses, and make them first graders and reps.

I didnt know far North Queensland was a Brisbane local juniors area. How big is f**king Brisbane? LOL.

See thats what I don't get, I didn't mention juniors at all, but because you guys have a small junior base you see it as an excuse to buy developed players. Look at the Roosters lower grades over the last 3 years, they have been great, but rather than promote them, "narh we'll sign established players instead" It's the quick fix option over the long term solution.

Right now with regards to the roosters signing youngsters from other areas, I'm all for it, develop them, bring them through the ranks. Then try something new and f**king use them. The odd one or two here and there then released means squat.

In case you were wondering, offloading $1m in talent in order to sign Harrison and Anasta means offloading the $1m to keep all the players we reasonably can and then sign those two players as well.

Managing player contracts is more complicated than just saying ok 7 gone for 2 in. It's more like 7 gone, 3 or 4 stay, 2 more in

Crapola!

Offloading 7 to sign 2 means offloading 7 to sign 2.

Otherwise it would have been we offloaded 3 to keep 4 and offloaded another 4 to sign 2.

It's their excuse, and once again using their influence in the media to attempt to sell and justify their arguement.

Costigan - McKay
Hodges - Cairns
Mapp - Moss Vale
McGuire - Caloundra
Minto - Yepoon
Seymour - McKay
Thiday - Townsville

Do I need to go on?

Nah we will continue to do what the Broncos do now. Get good juniors from outside and develop them. Its teh way of the future Kiwi. Your club can see it but you cant. And we will do whatever we wanbt with them. We are footing the bills for them and we will use them accordingly. Its not for you to judge how.

See straight over your head, your too blind to even read whats in front of you.

I said I was fine with that, and in fact hope the Roosters do more of it, but you have chosen not to read that.

What am not fine with, or see no logic in, is developing these players, and barely using them in favour of signing the likes of Anasta, Monaghan, Roberts, Firman, Finch, Harrison ect.

That's because you're thinking short term. Anasta may well have taken less money from the Roosters than what Souths were offering, but you also have to remember that he is only 23 and possibly has ten years left in the game. If he goes to to strong club such as the Roosters, it's conceivable that in ten years time his career may have continued to spiral, meaning maximum dollars the whole time. But if he'd gone to Souths, a struggling team with an uncertain future, it's equally conceivable that his career, as well as his earning potential, may well have nosedived.

So just because he'll be earning less money with the Roosters for the next three years, than what he could have earned at Souths, in the long term he'll have made more money and, along the way, enjoyed the spoils of success, such as rep football, etc.

It's a no-brainer.

Sadly, most LU forum members are also no-brainers.

This argument is total crap.
If If If.
What if Souths happened to reach the top in the next 3 years and the Roosters continue their spiral downhill.
Who says Souths future is uncertain?
They look to have a number of options available to them.
What if Anasta does his leg and has to retire?
What a load of rubbish.
Anasta $280k per year for 3 years (alleged Roosters offer)
or Souths 4 years at $500k (some say he was offered even more).
It would take 7 years to earn the money at the Roosters compared to 4 years at Souths.
I know which one is the no-brainer.

You're exactly right. If if if. Which is precisely why Braith Anasta signed with the Roosters for less money -- there are less "ifs" to the equation. He can't pretend to know the future. He can only make educated guesses and proceed from there.

So we've barely used Minichiello? Barely used Crocker? Barely used Fletcher? Barely used Flannery? Barely used Byrne? Didn't we develop those players? Didn't the 2002 grand final team contain 11 players who came through the Roosters lower grades?

I don't understand what more you want.

I think the main problem that people see is that the roosters team is filled with rep players....yes they let some go, but replace them with quality rep players!

They say anasta took less money to sign for the roosters...pfft do u think n e player would throw away the money that was being thrown at him by souths just to play for roosters?....its hard to believe

Don't the Broncos use the same argument every year to explain how they manage to stay under the salary cap? How many years have we been hearing, "Players are willing to play for us for less money."

I don't hear any bleating about that.

Why is it so difficult to believe that they might do the same thing at the Roosters? They've been in the last three grand finals. They're dripping money and their long term future is secure. They have the current State coach as head coach. They are professional and well run.

Why wouldn't you want to play for them?

11 are you sure?

Even so, lets say without debate, it was 11, ain't it a shame that didn't continue, because it's been a gradual downhill slip for the Roosters since then to match the dwindling numbers of developed players in the Roosters top 17. The one year they had a large number of their own talent in the team and the win their first title in 25 years, yet here we are, Roosters not as good and trying to buy their way out of the slump.
