when are these f**king idiots going to learn that professional athletes dont hit the sauce just hours after a game. its the most detrimental way to kick off preparation for the following week. considering the events of this season, there is obviously no leadership at the club at all.

they just cant let a saturday night pass them by, can they. no wonder these hacks are coming last.

why would an Easts supporter pony up to watch this team?? 7.5k at the SFS was 7.5k too many. football is obviously down the list of priorities for this group of players.

She's related to David Morrow?

Small world.

Can't wait to hear his call the next time ABC do a Roosters game.

Sydney Roosters' Jake Friend to be questioned over alleged woman assault
By Todd Balym
June 28, 2009 .The rugby league career of Sydney Roosters bad boy Jake Friend is in jeopardy after he allegedly struck a female in a nightclub fight involving teammates Mitchell Pearce and Sandor Earl.

Police are investigating claims Friend punched Brisbane woman Kristy Bradley, the niece of respected ABC rugby league radio commentator David Morrow and sister of former NRL player Nick Bradley, during a scuffle at Tank nightclub around 3am Sunday.

Friend has denied the allegations to coach Brad Fittler, however several members of Morrow's family witnessed the incident and are adamant the Roosters hooker struck the 31-year-old who had to be treated by ambulance officers at the scene.

Friend was out with teammates celebrating the club's first NRL win in seven weeks, a 19-12 defeat of Cronulla.

The incident comes just days after he was convicted of a drink driving offence, fined $850 and banned from driving for 18 months.

Friend's high-range drink-driving offence earned a two-week suspension by the NRL and a $10,000 fine from his club.

His latest indiscretion, if proven, could result in his being sacked by the club and possibly deregistered by the NRL.

Roosters chief executive Steve Noyce confirmed his players were involved in an incident, but wouldn't comment on the specifics of the allegations.

"It's right that there was an altercation at Tank nightclub and a couple of our guys were there, after that I would still like to get the right information before I go any further," said Noyce.

But Fittler launched a defence of Friend, believing the 19-year-old is innocent and had tried to break up a fight that started when the other party claimed the players threw ice.

"I've spoken to the boys and they said they haven't thrown any ice," Fittler told BigPond Sports Weekend.

"A person then came over to the table who was an aggressor towards one of our younger blokes Sandor Earl ... and apparently he (the aggressor) threw the first punch, he (Earl) got up there was a couple of punches and a bit of a scuffle and a girl was in the middle trying to break it up.

"From there Jake and Junior (Pearce) have done nothing, they've been towed out in wrist holds, head against the wall out the front.

"They had a bit of a dispute with the bouncers about their treatment because they had nothing to do with anything that went on inside, that's the story as far as I know it.

"We have to be very careful and not drag people's names through the mud so heavily ... it's very nice to throw the word alleged around and people should be accountable for what they say," he said.

"If they did nothing wrong and a bloke confronted them and it ended up there was a bit of a scuffle ... it has been happening for four thousand years and it'll happen for the next four thousand years.

"Hopefully this comes out clear and hopefully the girl is ok if she did cop a hit in amongst that scuffle."

No, I don’t think so. I think 2GB and the Telegraph see it as their duty to be the prosecuting officers for the NRL. They want to create interest for their news cycle before all the facts come out. Sometimes they like to create the story. They are only part of the Sydney media not all of it. Just as the Newcastle Herald and the SMH (probably because they are both Fairfax) will form a different opinion to the Daily Telegraph, there are other points of view in Sydney
2GB is Sydney's highest rating radio station. The Telegraph has the highest readership in Sydney. Take of that what you will about the people of Sydney. Controversy sells - people soak it up.

It's about bloody time a club stood by its players instead of the usual fake forced public apology garbage.

The players claim they did nothing wrong. Roosters fans and RL fans in general, imo we should take their word for it, innocent until proven guilty, rather than help the media drag the game through the mud again.

I don't care how bad the assault is, who's involved and who got hurt. I just want to know that the players and management are genuinely "disappointed" with their actions. If it can be added that "it's not their go", then all's OK with me.

Given Fittler's attitude towards alcohol eg getting sh*tfaced the night before a game his word on the matter doesn't carry much weight in this case now does it ?

Not even remotely relevant. This isn't an issue of alcohol, what makes you think they were even intoxicated?

You've made it quite clear that you have no interest in what actually happened, you have no intention of giving them the benefit of innocence until proven guilty. You just want to see someone from the Roosters sacked in yet another trial-by-media lynch mob investigation. Is that you Raaaaaaaaaay?

True but 2GB is only part of the overall radio (FM & AM) market in Sydney. The ABC’s 2BL is not far behind 2GB. I think 2GB have over 10% of the market.
The Telegraph has the highest readership in Sydney.
The Telegraph is not the only newspaper in Sydney

True, but only a certain demographic in Sydney reads the Telegraph or listens to 2GB, not the majority

it means fights have been happening forever and will happen forever...you said it yourself. I think he was gonna say there's no problem if they did nothing wrong but then went on that little tangent

I would just like to say I hate when threads are started involving an unidentified player and you need to sift through 15 pages of posts just to work out who it is. What a waste of time. Someone PM, or i'll just watch the evening news. Not that I care anyway.
