Roosters nab Mitchell as season of woe continues

Phil Mitchell and James Polson

THE Roosters announced last night the immediate signing of rising Eels star Anthony Mitchell.
The 22-year-old made his debut last year and earned a call-up in February's All-Stars match.
The acquisition of a handy attacking hooker is timely because the last time the Roosters' attack was so poor, the dollar had just replaced the pound and tries were worth only three points.

The year was 1966, when Easts, as they were then known, not only collected the wooden spoon after losing every game, but failed to score more than 12 points in any of their final nine games.
Forty-five years later, the Roosters have plumbed similar depths, having failed to better 13 points in their past nine matches, seven of which last year's grand finalists lost.

I heard this disgusting news on the weekend.

Absolutely shattered :(

Hopefully it is true that a Leopard never loses it's spots but I think I would have persisted with this one!!

We have had this kid in the top squad for 4 years or more now. Since he finished up the SG Ball Season in 2007 or 2008

It disapoints me, as I thought last year the only time we looked good is when Ant was at dummy half and got the some good speed with his passes in that position.

Aparently we signed a 2nd rower or the like from the Tigers. . .

I assume you mean other than the ranga Matt Ryan who played for Wenty this week ? He's 2nd row/centre from the Tigers.

Always had time for Mitch, but he just didn't step up in the way I thought he would. Hope he fills out and gets a shot, good on the ball but lacks grunt in defence, having said that , still would like to have seen him given an extended run in NRL.

Jake, this is the 3rd coach that hasn't seen fit to get him to progress, granted the first 2 were not good judges

To be fair, he was still 18 when Hagan was here and under Anderson we had Robson, Mortimer, Keating, Humble and Mitchell to fill 4 positions. He got his chance as soon as he dumped Morts.

Jury is still out on whether SK is a good judge......just saying......
