Is a re-build of our ageing squad going to be enough though?

I'm thinking go all out.

- Relocation... to another country
- Add another colour to the jersey, it'll make us stronger
- Change our mascot to an animal who actually stands a chance of winning a theoretical fight against any of the other club Mascots.
- Ditch the shorts & jersey; play in full body licra suits (opposition teams will have nothing to grab onto.... well less apparel anyway.)
- Mandatory shaving of heads pre-game to improve aerodynamics
- Hire Raudonikis to improve Robbo's ability at blasting the refs so we can win more penalty counts
- Send talent scouts to Hi 5 concerts to spot new upcoming talent ready to take over from the ageing squad.
- And finally sign Allgood to finish the job on Matai.

= Premiership

It was a cracking game from the 2 best defensive sides however like many said the penalty count was bullshit

1. There were multiple times were Manly took an age to get off our players but no penalty.

2. A knock on from Lyon wasn't called and he was allowed to run about 50 metres because of it.

3. multiple play the balls were done wrong (both teams did this but manly moreso then roosters)

4. It's been happening to us all season We're not saints (no pun intended) but we sure as hell are not worse off then any other team so how about the refs start penalising properly instead of bullshit calls.

Both Refs should be held accountable and the No try to Jennings was bullshit no interfearance whatsoever to the Manly players.

On Roosters last night where the f**k was Maloney he was a massive passenger last night did not do a thing.

If referees want to have as much an affect on the game as the players they should be made as accountable as the players.

If all referees want to do is ensure the game flows and penalise only when absolutely necessary then they should be given the benefit of the doubt

The NRL need to pick which alternative is best and go with across the board for all teams. if it's the latter Richard Silverwood should be flown out to give a tutorial

Without SBW the roosters have nothing

as a NSW fan i shudder at the performance of our origin halves last night, pedestrian at best.

the soreline flattered the roosters, manly shouldve won by 20 points

and they did it a man down for 75 minutes with glen stewart out concussed

with brett stewart to return manly were streets ahead.

that win last night will count come september

Given ably have 10 full sets in our attacking 20 and could only manage a solitary try, shouldn't last night be a worry for their halves? That much ball in attacking position can only mean either the halves played terrible or we defended like champions.

As for wins in march counting in September, ask souffs about that. Beat both manly and roosters in march 2013, rolled by both come the back end of the season

Or maybe the roosters could just score more points/don't drop the ball/be more disciplined/ take the game out of the pink twinkies' hands. The Roosters' supporters are starting to sound more like their next door mates.

A carbon copy of the bullshit that Manly got away with last week against the Eels, whilst the Eels were penalised out of the game.

How is it that Lyon can give a long drawn out facial on Maloney in front of the ref and touch judge, yet we got done for a completely innocuous hold down in the first half.

Newcastle players were penalised ad nauseum for this v Melb on Monday night, yet Lyon's effort on Maloney was even more blatant. Just a big ?????????

I can't knock Pearce for effort but when the pressure is on to create soemthing it's just that bit beyond his ability. Loved the ball back over the head to give possession away in the last 5 mins or so.

Roosters can't stay with Minicheillo at fullback for the rest of the year, he just isn't good enough anymore, adds nothing to the attack and hasn't looked comfortable with high kicks all year

manly won last night with a man down for most of the game

it was a brilliant effort

the penalties were a result of the roosters forwards getting outmuscled.

DCE is at the moment the games best player by a long way

I hate to say it, but I'm starting to think the same. He is is top 5 in my all time Roosters so it hurts to say that.

The high ball was the one thing that has never been questioned, even in his later years but I agree he doesn't look confident this year.

As for the reffing, I was at the game and couldn't see that any of the penalties we conceded weren't legit, but f**k me we definitely deserved more than 2. What I saw was simply unfathomable.

10 years of this over 5 odd different coaches just doesn't add up to me.

Ah that old chestnut, "ruck dominance".

So in conclusion the following are the reasons we give away penalties and or don't get them over a 10 year period.

1. Ruck dominance
2. We purposely give them away, it somehow benefits us.
3. Teams rise to the challenge to play us
4. We don't fight hard enough in the play the ball
5. Our game plan isn't geared enough towards getting penalties
6. We have the option to run around offside defenders so that means the offside players cant be penalised.

Can anyone realistically say that if the Roosters had a fair rub of the green that they would've lost? If the penalties are even or close to even the Roosters win. Let's hope they get a fair go at Brookvale.
