I don't know why posters are stating Lui never looked as good as Miller. Lui looked a lot better in the limited times I saw him in the 20's and to me looked a lot better than Miller when given a chance in the top grade. I don't think it is even close.

Miller has looked ordinary so far and anyone stating anything else is delusional. In saying that maybe he will play like his fans state he can. I hope that he does.

Lui would look great in the 20's because they dont tackle , hence the 58-46 scorlines ;-)

What's delusional is writing Miller off after a handful of games. I imagine all people are really saying is give Miller the same chance that Lui got at halfback before discarding him. If we can give Moltzen three years at fullback before seriously considering a replacement, surely we can give Miller a year or two at halfback.

I don't think people are writing Miller off. Speaking for myself Miller just hasn't looked up to it and it is a concern. I don't think we should be giving him a couple of years to get it right either - if he doesn't where does that leave us.

I didn't say 1 word about Lui in my post. So I'm not sure why your reply is based on comparisons that were never made.

But if you do want to make comparisons. Lui had a much better kicking game than Miller has displayed so far. I also said I didn't particular rate Miller in the 20's, Lui was also much more dominant at that level.

How you can say Miller is more creative than anyone is beyond me. He hasn't shown one ounce of creativity as yet. I'd love an example. He may well show something in the future and I hope he does, but he looks quite rigid to me so far.

I'd agree with all of this. Gee I hope I'm proven wrong though!

So let me get this straight.

Lui shovelled the ball onto Benji for 20-30 games before he started running to the line - that was okay.

Miller doesn't do this after 2 games at halfback and one at five-eighth in the NRL over 2 seasons and in a trial game - he's not good enough and should be written off

Lui wasn't much of a kicker when he first came into NRL either - thats okay

Miller hasn't shown much of a kicking game in his first few appearances in first grade - that's not good enough

I'm glad that's all cleared up.

Miller now is a better defender than Lui has ever been. Miller is more creative now than Lui was at the same stage. Miller now runs to the line more than Lui did at the same stage.

So long as Miller can get Benji good field position and can become a reliable kicking option, he will grow into the role and become a better 7 than Lui was.

Miller is already ahead of Lui at the stage of their first grade careers.

I like Miller and think he needs to be given a chance but this is a bit ridiculous. Lui was so underrated.

Against the Dragons semi in 2010 Lui was just about the best player on the park. In the 2011 finals he was close to our best player as well. Long way to go for Miller to be compared and right now he is not better at anything except defense.

Fair enough. I think you could see Lui's talent even at a young age (in the 20s) he dominated at that level. Miller has the skills, just hope he can show them in FG. We are up shit creek if he doesn't because Brooks is too raw to throw in just yet, IMO.
