Come on Burke's, you can do better than that!

I'm not in Western Sydney and round here it would be unheard of for the RU to be shown on a big screen over the RL, at any pub or club.

Its just a wanky city/eastern suburbs thing - kind of like RU itself.

Even in places like the Gold Coast, Rugby is the preferred footy code at most pubs. I suggest staying out in Western Sydney if you wish to watch Rugby Lite on a good size screen.

hahahahaha. that is so much of a bad lie its funny. its unlike someone who supports union to lie ;-)

the aru are the best at it. 3 billion people hahahahahahaha

A good pub to watch in the inner city is the Warren View in Enmore.
They had the footy on a few big screens inside and the big screen outside.
And then at half time of the Sharks v Brisbane game, they switched it over to the cricket for a few minutes to check the score and then put it back on the footy!

greeneyed Rugby Lite should throw in the towel in the ACT. The Raiders are crap and only get a few men and a dog to games compared to the Brumbies. Also all the best Rugby code players like Giteau, Larkham and Gregan are all local players. What does that say about the appeal of that horrible green top?

And the rest of the players are from ????.
Judging by the increae in the number of young kids wanting to try their hand at rugby league in the ACT including a union strong school Marist(as per ARL development site),rugby league is doing OK.
When the likes of the Gregans,Larkhams etc retire and the Brumbies are down the ladder, what goes around comes around.
The Raiders are developing their juniors, and will be able to play 12 home games at Canberra, compared to the token fare offered by the competition.
Everyone loves winners union man.

Taipan,

All those stupid publicans. How could so many be fooled by so few, so often?

Or maybe they don't want to attract league supporters.

You know how it is hype, can overcome reality.teams called the Cats and Cheetahs in oz,tend not to get the blood boiling.
In the city Woods when everyone is dressed up in suits, and sipping a quiet beer, rugby league supporters and union supporters are indistinguishable.
Well they have a problem mate, they have attracted moi.
Maybe the publicans should consult Macquarie bank workers, who run an NRL tipping comp, each putting in $1,000.They sure know where the action is.:D

Got another black mark for 'the Slip Inn' for ya lads

Went there with 4 mates on saturday night for a quick beer (waiting to get into Tony Romas for Ribs) and the security guard at the door flat out told us: "we don't let groups of guys in"

we were speechless to say the least. That's at least 10 beers they didn't sell by refusing us entry. Went up to a local irish pub that had cricket and Gaelic footy on. No NRL there, but they served a good pint at least

Unfortunatley, it happens in Maroochydore as well. THis English pub, the
"pig n whistle" always, always has Union on the BIG screen, and league on the 49cm screens. ITs always the same answer to, when you ask to put the league on the big screen, "sorry, but union is more popular".
Thats when i look to see how many people are watching the union....and there is none! :? I actually asked the barman more popular with whom, and he walked away.
It has to be some sort of financial deal from a supplier (like Tooheys), but the pubs aren't giving away any clues. Heaven forbid, we all know which sport has more viewers on TV!
