Marster and Saab aren't eligible to play FG
The youngest of all the debutants, 18-year-old Brisbane forward David Fifita, was the first NRL player to have been born in the 2000s while oldest, Dragons journeyman playmaker Darren Nicholls, was at 29 the oldest debutant of the NRL era.Jul 20, 2018
Masters born in 1999 and Saab born in 2000 so both eligible from my understanding of the rules.

It’s not their age that makes them ineligible, it’s the fact that they’re not in the top squad.

They are both development players and cant be selected till after June 30.

What if the game is close, Mary injects Dufty into the game who carves up the Cowboys tired forwards and wins the game for them. Will you stop complaining? My guess is you won’t. A ball hasn’t been kicked yet and you’re already so angry. What are you like during the season? Relax mate. Stop being so negative.
So if I don't agree with your position I'm negative or complaining am I?
You may like the side good luck to you but please note that I'm not telling you what to do or think and for the record I could have sworn I was just having an opinion which you obviously don't like.
We all post our opinions here and do so on pretty much the basis of "if I was coach" would I do or agree with what Mc Fookknuckle does which is how it is supposed to work I would have thought.
In response to your scenario you've seen coach use the bench so how about Dufty comes on with 5 minutes to go and then faces Taumolo and Hess with them both attacking down Aitken's side.

Pretty simple really, we have 1 spot vacant elevate one of them.
Again other clubs developing 18 years olds and we select plodders and hamper the team by putting quality players in development squads whilst we buy Maranta and the likes and FMD select Runciman in Canterbury Cup and he isn't part of the top 30 but most likely will be.

I'm not debating who should be in the 30
What I'm telling you is they can't play FG so it's pointless picking them.

Neither Runciman nor Maranta are in our top 30 squad.

Mate. I don’t know if it is the best side to pick. I don’t have any knowledge of what goes on within the club, and/ or during training. You’re not having an opinion, you’re having a whinge. You’re the kind of bloke that gets a kick out of the team losing because it feeds your negative ego. I saw the team you picked. My opinion is, you’re off your rocker...but hey...that’s my opinion. Would I have picked Mary’s team for round 1? Probably not. But I’m sure he has a better understanding of the team than you and I do. Support the team, and if they lose...then go out and have a whinge and feed that ego of yours.

OK I didn't realise they couldn't be picked until after June 30 as they are still in the development squad.
There was a section that I read said (extracted form 2015 I think) stated there was a loophole about players turning 18 before Dec 31 but obviously that may not be incorrect.
Under those circumstances your point about not selecting them is valid but we should take the bit between our teeth and upgrade 1 if not both them from the development squad so we can pick them.

Typical wanker post by people who don't like others who see a different way.
The notion that I take pleasure from the team losing just shows how little you do know and that comment just feeds your self righteous nature.
Re the team I picked well might i be off my rocker but I can almost guarantee you there are plenty of others equally off their rocker and not willing to rubber stamp bad selection policy as is your position.

It's ok OT, for what its worth I feel that our young players really don't get the same chances that are offered at other clubs. I'm sure the side would be much stronger with Kerr, Lomax, Pearson and Robson in the 17. As Dufty has been signed, I don't see the urgency in having him on the bench for the final 7 minutes of the game. I'd say Hunt at hooker is more of a negative than Dufty at fullback would be a positive.

Did I say they were?
However they are selected to play next weekend in Canterbury Cup despite not being in our top 30.
What’s wrong with that? (Although i was wrong about Maranta).

We need at least 34 players every fortnight to fill our first grade and second grade team.

There will be players selected from outside the top 30.

So angry.
You are suggesting that it "makes sense on paper" well in my world it makes no sense at all and it would be better flushed down the toilet and I suspect many others would agree withnthat thought but not necessarily agree with my thoughts on the team.
You are correct in that I believe he has selected a dud team as he is trying to fit too many (key players) into 1 team and is going to cost us by either unbalancing the spine due to Dufty being on the bench or fatiguing the forwards as per usual due to not having sufficient coverage if he decides to not use Dufty.
We have JDB out indefinitely and K Sims suspended for 2 games and coach goes with a FB on the bench which defies logic IMO.
If you can't pick Dufty at FB then make the brave decision and f**king drop him.
Re Aitken well there are several hundred posts in various threads that will answer that question.
Game 1 of the season and coach has already failed to make a tough but necessary call.

My team would be
Dufty,
Ravalawa
Masters or Saab either would be an upgrade on Pereira.
Lafai, Lomax
Widdop
Hunt
Vaughan, Mc Innes, Lawrie
Sims, Host
Frizz

Bench
Norman, Leilua, Graham, Kerr.
I would have picked

1 Dufty
2 Ravalawa
3 Lomax
4 Widdop
5 Pearson
6 Hunt
7 Norman
13 Frizell
12 Leilua
11 T Sims
10 Vaughan
9 McInnes
8 Graham

14 Lawrie
15 Robson
16 Timm
17 Host

Host could come on 10 mintes before halftime and replace Frizell. Frizell could come back on 15 after halftime replacing Lucky but playing lock, while Host could move to the edge. Lawrie and Timm would replace Vaughan after about 25 minutes and be replaced after 15 to 20 minutes after halftime. Robson would replace McInnes 10 minutes into the second half and play the rest of the game. That would leave me with one more replacement up my sleeve. When Korbin is available, he would be replacing either Timm or Lawrie.

Select them at the expense of who is the question that you do not address.
Do you not see other teams blooding and getting full benefit out of 18 & 19 year old players?
If you do see that then you must be of the opinion that many of our 18,19 & 20 year olds for that matter are just not worthy.

You write this dribble before a tackle is even made this season

Yet I’m the one with the wanker post trying to support the team that was selected? Tell you what mate. If they lose, I’ll wait for your “told you so” and “fire McGregor” posts. I’m sure you’ll get much satisfaction thinking you were right.

Strawman arguments are such a poor faith way to debate. You really should stop that.

Marsters is in the side. Saab is coming along nicely and will be fine.
