Well you can be certain Dureau will be playing for Central.

He can ply his Andrew Johns like qualities at St Johns Oval for probably most the year.
I think of all the halves pairings we have available ATM Macs one is the best.

I think this is a very tough game to start out with a new side. A game against Canberra is pretty much an attacking game where they allow you to score a lot of points, but they score a lot themselves. Our unity in defence will have to be spot on, especially out wide, because Canberra will put a lot of pressure on our wingers and centres.

If our attack is on and we get a big crowd I think we can out point them. But to restrict their scoring with a brand new side would be a massive effort.

Last season will be fresh in the teams mind too and a round 1 loss at home to the expected wooden spooners would be a massive dent in our confidence.

to be perfectly honest, we're the expected wooden spooners. quite a few punters think canberra can do quite well this year - myself included.

Yeah, I don't necessarily think they'll be wooden spooners either, but I think more do think they will be than don't.

You don't mean that, I know you don't ;-)

Seriously though, I'm not too sure what to read into our trial form. At the end of the day, it is two wins, but its difficult how to gauge where we're at. We wont start the season with a bang IMO, far from it. We'll probably be scrappy up until around round 6 to 8 until we get combinations happening and all the rest of it.

On the game itself, I think we'll win, mainly because Canberra's away record is disgraceful and we'll be confident after those two trial wins. However, we may not win another game until around round 5 or 6 with the tough teams yet to come.

As for the side which may run out:

1. Kurt Gidley
2. James McManus
3. Wes Naiqama
4. Adam MacDougall
5. Cooper Vuna
6. Chris Bailey
7. Jarrod Mullen
8. Jesse Royal
9. Danny Buderus
10. Matt White
11. Cory Paterson
12. Chris Houston
13. Steve Simpson

14. Matt Hilder
15. Daniel Tolar
16. Richie Fa'aoso
17. Mark Taufua

with the addition of cross and sarge, that side has the ability to win the comp...
love that backline mac. touchwood we see that side this year, or even better all year.

There is no way we will be able to beat the good sides like a full strength Melbourne or a full strength NQ. We will be lucky to make the eight this year even with the strength of this team.

Just because our new look side is so much better than last year's does not mean in any way that we're close to being top dogs. Needs more time.

probable Raiders team (well what i think Henry will name)

1. Zillman
2. Purtell
3. Graham
4. Monaghan
5. Best
6. Campese
7. Carney
8. Tilse
9. Withers
10. Logan
11. Turner
12. Costigan
13. Tongue

14. Chalk
15. Thompson
16. Weyman
17. Plum
18. Miller

Both teams have sh*thouse defence so should be a high scoring game

Not a bad line up Gorilla... your probably right it may be a high scoring game with both team's defence ordinary.. should be a highly entertaining game though

lets not go crazy. I think the anything higher than 7th would be a major achievement this year. I would be disappointed to not make the finals, but, bravado aside, 7th or 8th is about where we will end up if we get a good injury run. Hopefully we storm in and build for 09, but the draw is very unkind.

Cross would be a walk up start, but I think you are maybe over-estimating where Sarge is at. I think he will be coming back through PL. In fact I don't want to see him all year - because Sarge in PL means the team on the park is doing the job.

monas makes that canbraa team look a lot better. 'rilla I don't think you will make the 8 but you will play a good style of footy and take some big scalps at home.

There are several inexperienced players in that line up, with quite a few fringe players. Saying they could win the comp is way over the top even with the additions you mention. Top 8 would be an achievement IMO

enough plays to thump the knights in the corresponding game last year... in joeys last game no less...
that team of gorillas looks about right but i expect Best will play at centre and Graham on the wing

Im going with.

1. Gidley
2. Mcmanus
3. Naiqama
4. Mcdougall
5. Vuna
6. Mullen
7. Walsh
8. Royal
9. Buderus
10. Tolar
11. Simpson
12. Houston
13. Bailey

14. Wicks
15. Fa'aso
16. Patto
17. Hilder

I know we can win it, but I'm nowhere near confident. It's really a must win game seeing as we take on Manly and the Eels (i think) in the next 2 weeks.
