Waddell charged with a headbut on Martin. https://publish.twitter.com/?query=https://twitter.com/PenrithPanthers/status/1134268472563625986&widget=Tweet

2 match ban. Yet Manly got the penalty. I think a please explain should be in the mail from Penrith.

I see this kind of sentiment alot.
In regards to foul play, the first offence is penalised, not the worst offence.

Waddell could have hit the headbutt, a rock bottom, stunner, and dropped the elbow from the top of the western stand, and he would still get the penalty - as the dangerous throw precedes all that.
It doesn't exclude Waddell from being punished however. He can be (and probably should have been) sin binned.

Similarly, if you score a fair try, and then go and give the opposition fullback a flogging, you will still be awarded the try.

Why hasn't someone flogged Boyd by now then? Or slater? There'd be nothing better than scoring a matchwinner and then beating the piss out of billy.

Had a good hooker and Luai last night and still centres got no ball in attack

Well one was a rookie on debut and the other was a backtrower just back from a stint. I doubt the plan was to go to them with lots of goodball. We have been getting Whare and Waqa(in particular) plenty of good early ball to start the year though, we just haven't capitalised on it.

I didn't recognise your pic at first haha. Good to be back. Seems to be at the right time. Origin is here and Panthers are picking themselves up off the canvas with the roster showing good signs.

A change is good every now and again.

A good time to return, the mood prior has been low. Listening to Sauce last night he was positive as always and the intensity has lifted the past 2 weeks. Maybe we can turn things around and finish better than we started the year.

So he f**king should.

Some bizarre never before seen penalties tonight.

Award penalty to an offside player for not being able to get past the guy who played the ball...who merely existed. Korisau wasnt obstructed. He was offside. If he were onside he gets an opportunity to tackle.

Penalised Jimmy for being hit high.

Penalised us for a strip where the ball wasn't lost by Manly or touched by us. Possibly the worst call of the game.

The guy hates us and doesn't hide it.
I reckon if you e-mailed the NRL with those observations, you'd be waiting until the next ice age for a response. Oh...and expect the same from the next ref V Easts.

Hi everyone.

Just a couple of things from my lurking. Cleary will never be a 9.

As for the game it's good to see the enthusiasm. Just need Maloney out by June 30 he's getting old so only has limited time anyway so Luai can play regularly at 6. Martin is awesome, that's the first game I've seen of him.
Hey OP...hope you didn't get blinded by any lasers made in China.

My biggest criticism of Cleary is constantly going short to Yeo when the better option is out the back.. Maybe it is poor tactics to blame instead

My wife sent an email about the refereeing a couple of weeks ago and actually received a response yesterday. Just the usual ‘we understand your frustrations’, ‘ the refs call objectively as they see things’, ‘not biased’ etc.
They didn’t say anything about preconceptions and incompetence.
She knows a lower grade ref who is under instructions to watch videos of upcoming teams and players and write a report on their ‘idiosyncrasies’ before they referee. Surely this suggests they go into matches with preconceptions. I don’t know if the top grade refs do the same thing, but it would appear that way.
As far as incompetence goes Cummins is up there with the worst. His strip call last night when the player never lost possession and the pocket ref called no issue only an injury was evidence of that.
The video refs are just as bad, with last nights obstruction call, putting Fuimanoa on report, then not doing anything about the obvious head butt was baffling to say the least.

We do it with Kikau as well, he can have 5 defenders waiting on the pass to him and we will still give it rather than go outside, that annoys me but I thinks its the tactics.

Yeo in the centres doesn't bother me, some of his best games have been in the centres!

I'm a huge Yeo fan. He reminds me of many footy players of the 60's and 70's. Rawboned, hard edged and as tough as teak.

From vision I saw last night after the game (he was talking to his dad) he did a good mime of someone who was under the weather if the flu. Then a commentator mentioned a couple of them were suffering. This makes the win even more remarkable.
