Jeez what a match???
You couldn't stop us in the first 25 mins and then laid down for the last 15 of the first. After half time and into the 50th minute i was saying to myself, we don't deserve a win here if we get it.
We used to be so rock solid in defence and prided ourselves in keeping them out but that seems to have gone out the window with the last 4 or 5 games? Not sure if it's a fitness/attitude problem but under the hammer we seem to fall to pieces? Gillet tonight surprisingly was one of the main culprits of missed important tackles. We wouldn't have won this one without Hodges. Hoffman was good along with Beale and even Copley just keeps improving. Wallace did what he had to do but wasn't outstanding when we had the ball IMO but did a shitload in defence as always.
Good to see slammin' Sam get over for a try. Know he's been pretty quite this year but think he's working a lot on his discipline and the whole team captaincy challenge. Reed ran hot and cold all night. Parker outstanding with the boot.
Glad we were playing Newcastle and not anyone higher but was still on edge until the last 15 or so minutes. We were so lucky with Boyd spilling that one. That was a crucial time for us and would have put them only 2 points behind us (with the easy conversion) and plenty of time on the clock.
Hope we learn from this and start patching up the holes in our defence and start playing for each other and get a bit of consistency out there? :? Scrappy and by no means convincing but we'll take the points and hopefully get a wake up call and a boot where it fits!
Just have to be on our guard against Boyd and Uate and put the big Willie on his back. Mullen and Buderus can be a handful?
