Gagai is no chance of playing. Apparently he wasn't released in time to be cleared.

Bit sneaky, but smart too.

I have a feeling that the Broncos will want some redemption for their poor performances of late, today. Hodges back and fit, Petero back, Hannant back and fit. I expect us to pile on a heap of points today.

I half expected that before the rain set in. It might dry up but still I think the big scores could be put on hold due to weather. :x

Gonna rain all day here in Brisbane. I'm at work at Newstead ATM, which is about 5km from Suncorp Stadium, and the weather is terrible. Not raining ATM, but very overcast with light showers, and the forecast is for rain this afternoon.

Still, if Wallace can show a bit of Lockyer leadership and kick to the corners, get repeat sets and build pressure, the Knights will fold like a cheap Hooker.

Looking forward to this one only because we should beat the living daylights outta 'em!:) Just have to be on our guard against Boyd and Uate and put the big Willie on his back. Mullen and Buderus can be a handful?

We need this win just as desperately as the knights to get back on track. GO THE BRONCS!

A desperate Newcastle will need to rock up to Suncorp Stadium on Sunday with their A game to give coach Wayne Bennett an upset win over his former NRL club Brisbane.

With a wet track on the cards, the side which controls field position and gets into the grind best will most likely emerge the victor.

Coach Anthony Griffin said "I'm not to worried about the (premiership) points, the vital thing for us is that our effort is there," Griffin said in regard to 36 missed tackles against the Storm, 12 more than they have been averaging a game this season.

Disgraceful performance. I'm more upset that we copped 24 from a team who couldn't score all year than not scoring 80. Disgraceful.

Corey Norman is in a massive slump, and Peter Wallace has absolutely nothing in attack. We scored all from individual efforts and crap Knights defence. Wallace did the 2 inside passes every team would stop except the knights. What a hollow win. Doesn't even feel like we scored 50.

Yeah never thought I wouldn't want to watch a replay of a game we scored 50 in!!
This team needs to harden the f**k up and start playing tough or we're no hope against any team with a bit of creativity.

Gillett looks like a different players to the one that forced himself into the qld team. He virtually walks to the line and tries to step.

Woeful performance. Simply woeful. As soon as Petero and Hannant went off, we went soft. Then when McCollough went off, we went horribly. Our defence through the middle was some of the worst I've seen from any team this season. Melbourne would have dead set put 50 on us today. Gillet was absolutely terrible. I'm going to make a thread for him actually.

Gee we have some work to do.

Yeah I don't know about that mate. I thought Wallace was good and Melbourne have been carving up with the inside ball all year so it's clearly an effective move. We've used it pretty well this year as well.

The problem was defence. Gillette had some f**king terrible reads. For a while there our defence looked as bad as them.

I was at the game so I'll reserve my voting till I watch I reply... I might have to skip the middle 30 minutes though, hard to watch.

Doesn't feel like a 50 win does it.

Hook really has to get into our Defence hard. I remember when we conceded the least points of any team. Where the f**k has that gone? Hodges was a freak today.

It's good to get the win and all but that was pretty woeful. Can't see us beating many other teams with that effort. After the last month of footy we're pretty lucky to be sitting in 2nd. We got lucky a couple of times in that game too. The offside and Boyd dropping. An inch the other way and we could have been in a lot of trouble.

We really have been woeful over the last month. Defense has been very weak up the middle. Our forwards all need to lift.

Jeez what a match??? You couldn't stop us in the first 25 mins and then laid down for the last 15 of the first. After half time and into the 50th minute i was saying to myself, we don't deserve a win here if we get it.
We used to be so rock solid in defence and prided ourselves in keeping them out but that seems to have gone out the window with the last 4 or 5 games? Not sure if it's a fitness/attitude problem but under the hammer we seem to fall to pieces? Gillet tonight surprisingly was one of the main culprits of missed important tackles. We wouldn't have won this one without Hodges. Hoffman was good along with Beale and even Copley just keeps improving. Wallace did what he had to do but wasn't outstanding when we had the ball IMO but did a shitload in defence as always.

Good to see slammin' Sam get over for a try. Know he's been pretty quite this year but think he's working a lot on his discipline and the whole team captaincy challenge. Reed ran hot and cold all night. Parker outstanding with the boot.

Glad we were playing Newcastle and not anyone higher but was still on edge until the last 15 or so minutes. We were so lucky with Boyd spilling that one. That was a crucial time for us and would have put them only 2 points behind us (with the easy conversion) and plenty of time on the clock.

Hope we learn from this and start patching up the holes in our defence and start playing for each other and get a bit of consistency out there? :? Scrappy and by no means convincing but we'll take the points and hopefully get a wake up call and a boot where it fits!

Never thought winning would be so hard to watch.

God our defence has turned to shit!! WTF has happened in the last 4 weeks !!

I like usually like to write something no matter what happens, but as for today

I'll just take the 2 points and move on.
