Should have been 2007 ver 2, but we got a heart attack and lotto in the same game.
Well summed up.
A true rollercoaster performance, don't think I've been this conflicted about a 50 point win before. Closest game I can think of comparing it to is our 2011 win against the Raiders, disappointing effort, but in the end, all I wanted was 2 points and I got that.
Couple of notes...
- Agree with Bretto on Hodges in defence. That effort on Boyd was terrible and did anyone notice him watching Wallace swinging off than Boyd? Seemed like he cared more about himself than the team which I can't blame him for given his run but I'm definitely disappointed in.
- However, I can't go past Hodges as my MotM. What a difference he makes to the team. He gives Wallace a good target to hit and he often gets the best out of his outside man. Only problem I have is how often he keeps going back on the inside. He had Sau beaten all ends up yesterday and he should have kept at it.
- In fact, with the exception of Reed, I thought our backs were our best players out there. Kept getting us out of danger and caused all sorts of problems for them out-wide. Copley > Uate.
- Was disappointed with the crowd. Can understand why it drew so little but it gives the haters something to point out about Friday games.
- Refs. seemed hellbent on getting the Knights back in the game. Some very confusing or plain soft penalties seemingly went the Knights way & I thought the forward pass call on Wallace to Hodges was BS. Especially when Snowden's pass to Fa'aoso looked far more suspect. Will say this though, I liked how they interacted with the players today. Both parties showed mutual respect and it didn't lead to any blow ups which we've been seeing as of late. Seems like only players get any attention for hurling abuse at refs. but I reckon the refs. do themselves little favours with the way they treat players.
- Macca needs more game time, we missed him when he went off & I wouldn't be surprised if our lack of 80 minute performance has something to do with our hooker rotation. Think Civo should start from the bench, his second stints always seem far more valuable than his first. His return to the field yielded that try to Slammin' Sam.
- Good to see Parker kick 8/8. We needed him to be on today with the boot and he delivered big time.
- Somebody needs to get me a picture of Hodges with his tongue out. Avatar worthy.
