Who would you change? I thought McInness was our worst but surely you wouldn’t drop him. Robson wasn’t much better.

Lats did nothing as usual, Robson was not good, Lawrie wasn’t great and Field barely got a run.

Perhaps an extra prop on the bench for Field and another to replace Lats on the bench. Kerr and Timm?

Watched the Canterbury Cup on the weekend and was left with the following impressions after SGI's big win over the Warriors.

1. Pereira should never have been dropped. He was easily the most threatening attacking player on either side. He bent the line and looked likely to make a break every time he touched the ball. Admittedly, Pearson and Ravalawa performed well in the NRL and don't deserve to be dropped either but Aitken again was underwhelming in attack and defence. He threw a howler of a pass close to our goal line which we survived through good luck rather than good management. I am still of the view Pereira should be given a run at right centre.

2. Jackson Ford is a strong defender and has exceptional speed. He outsped a winger and a full back in scoring his runaway try. He still looks 5-10kg too light to play in the back row (but tell that to Cameron Murray and Victor Radley). If Pereira doesn't work out, he would be my next cab off the rank to try at right centre.

3. Jason Saab showed exceptional athleticism to outjump the Warriors full back, take the bomb and lay on a try assist. It was Folau like . He was solid in defence and attack. I would have no hesitation naming him on the wing if Rav or Pearson don't progress as expected.

4. Timm is huge and looks menacing. He should be given Latimore's spot on the bench.

5. Joe Lovodua is a smoky for mine- He is quick and has great footwork at lock. Definitely one for the future.

Being huge and looking menacing doesn’t necessarily translate into footballing success..

These nong journos that keep bringing up the escort no penalty piss me off.
We were coping the rough end of the pineapple unlubed for most of the match.
As always we get rorted and every dodgy call throughout the game goes against us.
Then at the last play of the match the sea queens get a dodgy call against them ...and who is to say cherry evens was going to kick the equaliser goal.
f**king media shit me.
You f**k one goat...and look what happens.

I'll be watching this one, and hoping. Not confident. Strong Manly team and will be a thousand times tougher than our last hit out.

Thanks for sharing. I agree Pereira was unlucky to be dropped. Never thought of him as an option at centre. But it makes some sense.

I didn’t watch reserve grade but in firsts we really struggled with defence in and around the ruck. I think Ford off the bench instead of Field would be a good option. He could cover 2nd row, lock and centre.

I’d prefer to try Rava in center than Pereira.

Ford is indeed an option on the bench sooner rather than later... maybe him or Robson for the 14 along with 3 forwards?

For sure, remember the Easts match when he created a great chance from inside the Dragons half but Pereira stuffed up the play by not committing to run straight to the line with Rava in support.
Try time and maybe match.
Rava has a lot of footy smarts I say.

But I’d prefer Pereira on the wing :)

Admittedly we are all speculating here as Aitken somehow hangs on to the position week in week out and others don't get a chance but I feel that defensively Pereira may be a smarter, more experienced option than Rav in that right centre position where good teams constantly target us.
