Notice how the rest of the Dragons side was walking or still back about 40 metres either too tired, in disbelief or could not be bothered. Norman had to usher the troops to celebrate and congratulate him. Good to see.our support play working so well...thats a Maryism...sit back and get ready for the next structured play.
No. It's a linebreak by our fastest player.

Does anyone like the idea of giving Pearson a shot in the centres?
He would be better than Maranta . Pereira came down as a centre . He played all his football there until he was moved to the wing by us . I think he may play centre . If not it could well be Jacob Host . Maranta isn't even reserve grade standard ….Even Mary couldn't be that stupid .

Is that a rhetorical statement?

After watching (painfully) the coaches preview he was coy on the question of will Maranta start.

I have a feeling that Field will be the one to drop out of the squad and mylanta will be on the bench.

I think we will line up as:
1. Dufty
2. Periera
3. Pearson
4. Aitcan't
5. Ravalawa
6. Norman
7. Hunt
8. Lawrie
9. McInnes
10. Vaughan
11. Host
12. T. Sims
13. Friz
14. The Messiah
15. The Cowboys new hooker
16. K. Sims
22. Mylanta (just a settler onthe bench)

Just be careful you don't make a mistake with the spelling of Aitcan't .... Don't get your A'"s mixed up with your U'"s ...:):):)

As a stupid supporter I always pick the Dragons in my local tipping comp. Was feeling sorta confident until Lomax got ruled out then absolutely resigned to losing with no back up centres of any note. Most clubs can pull up a back up from Reggie's all we can do is replace with a never has been. So disappointed with our club and coaching staff.

I think Maranta will end up playing centre. I don't think McGregor trusts Ravalawa, Pearson or Pereira to play that role. I think he would move Host to centre before one of them too. Will see what happens in any case

Five things: Round 14 v Manly

Here are five things to keep in mind as the Dragons travel to Lottoland to take on the Manly-Warringah Sea Eagles.

Birthday boy Euan Aitken

Sunday's match will be a big night for Dragons centre Euan Aitken, who also celebrates his 24th birthday out on the field. The tough South Coast native made his debut for the Dragons in 2015 and has played 91 matches for the Red V to date.

Aitken played his first full NRL game in the starting side against the Raiders in Round 3, 2015. He also has a good record against Manly, scoring two doubles.

Half century seven years in the making

On Sunday, big Jerry will run out for his 50th Dragons appearance in a milestone that has taken him seven years to reach.

One of the NRL's journeymen, Latimore has played for five different clubs across his 173-game career. In 2012, Latimore signed with the Dragons and played 14 games before signing a two-year deal with the Penrith Panthers. Latimore would go on to play 75 matches for the mountain men.

In 2018, Latimore returned to the Red V where he played a further 35 matches, combining with his old stint in the red and white to culminate in his 50th Dragons appearance on Sunday.

Anyone remember the way?

While some away stadiums are visited regularly throughout the season, the same cannot be said for Lottoland with the Dragons only playing at the ground four times in the past nine years.

The Dragons didn't visit Brookvale Oval at all last season with their most recent matches coming in 2017, 2016, 2012 and 2010. Their few trips up to Manly could be seen as a blessing who don't hold a strong record at the venue. The Dragons have lost four of their past five matches at the ground.

Eight rounds, eight changes

Eight rounds of the NRL is an eternity for coaches and supporters with injuries and performances causing selection headaches. The Dragons played Manly in Round 5 winning 12-10 at WIN Stadium. But the team that won back in April, has eight player and positional changes this time around.

Jordan Pearson comes in for Jordan Pereira, Lachlan Maranta is late inclusion for injured centre duo Zac Lomax and Tim Lafai, Blake Lawrie starts in the front row in place of James Graham, Jacob Host swaps with Tyson Frizell, Frizell moves to lock to cover Lawrie, and Reece Robson, Korbin Sims and Jai Field all come into the side on the bench.

Important two points

With just two wins separating 5th and 11th place on the ladder, Sunday's match could have a big impact on the Dragons final placing at the completion of the regular season.

The Broncos and Eels will square off this round meaning the Dragons will leapfrog at least one of them if successful against Manly, leaving them tied for eighth place on the ladder. A difficult match against the Melbourne Storm looms in the near future placing even more importance on claiming the two competition points on Sunday.

DRAGONS

Latimore proud of 50th Dragons cap

By Laura Gale

Notching a half-century in Rugby League is no easy feat but Dragons big man Jeremy Latimore will raise the bat for the second time on Sunday, in an innings which took seven years.

Latimore reached the milestone as a 28-year-old at the Penrith Panthers in 2015. But prior to his time at Penrith, ‘Lats’ played 14 games at the Dragons in 2012 before rejoining the Red V in 2018 and playing a further 35 matches.

His seven year journey to his 50th Dragons cap saw him don a number of different jerseys including the Panthers, Cronulla Sharks, Parramatta Eels and New Zealand Warriors.

"It’s pretty cool. I’ve been to a few clubs, which has been a bit of a journey," Latimore said.

"I obviously hit that at the Panthers, but when I saw Vaughany’s the other week I was thinking mine might be close, then I saw that pop up yesterday so I’m pretty proud.

"The overall figure, you’re sort of on top of that, but I’ve been to so many clubs I sort of forget how many I’m on at the time."

But while his overall figure doesn’t concern him, the team’s performance weighs heavily on his mind with the larrikin forward joking he’d skip training to avoid Mary’s wrath.

"We didn’t start very well (against the Bulldogs), we could’ve went 'here we go again', but we toughed it out and got back in the game. We just needed to win. There was no other option," Latimore said.

"If we had of lost I wouldn’t have come to training this week I don’t think.”

Dragons junior Matt Dufty isn’t too far behind from reaching the 50-game club sitting only eight games short of Latimore. But his run to 50 was stalled by a brief stint in the Canterbury Cup.

Dufty said he will use his time in reserve grade as a lesson to improve his game coming into the back end of the season.

"I know I wasn’t playing good footy and Mary thought it was best for the team to drop me back to reserve grade footy for a few weeks,” Dufty said.

"I’ve been able to get my confidence back playing in reserve grade and I think it taught me a lesson of what I have to get back to, and just keep working hard.

"I was disappointed in myself because there’s no one else to blame but yourself when you’re not playing good footy.

"I had to have a good hard look at how I had to get back into first grade, I worked on those things and Mary gave me another shot."

Eager to prove to himself and his teammates that he deserves his place in the team, Dufty is focusing on back-to-back wins this weekend and says he is aiming for a full 80-minute performance from the Dragons.

"I think we were a bit off the last month and I think it was good for the boys to get the win and good for the club," Dufty said.

"We weren’t playing bad footy but we weren’t playing for the full 80 minutes.

The electrifying fullback says he is welcoming the challenge of facing a full strength Manly outfit on Sunday.

"I’m not afraid to get up in the air, it’s just something you’ve got to do if you want to play fullback.

"Catching balls isn’t hard, for me anyway, it’s something I’m good at. So if they want to keep putting them up, they can."
