Our middle forwards in round two were exactly the same except now we have Smith in for O'Brien:

1. French
2. Radradra
3. Jennings
4. Takairangi
5. Hoffman
6. Gutherson
7. Norman
8. Matagi
9. Kritchard
10. Mannah
11. Ma'u
12. Moeroa
13. Scott

14. Brown
15. Alvaro
16. O'Brien
17. Fritchard

With Edwards, Moses and Auva'a also in for Fritchard, Jennings and Hoffman the team is a bit smaller.

If Jennings is fit and picked, will be interesting to see what BA does with Taka/Gutho/French/Auva'a.

Has to fit 5 players into 4 spots and based on what we have seen so far, Gutho is first picked every week.
I spoke with him on Sunday briefly about he's move to the centres and his okay with it. "Played juniors there and played some games there last year".

Everyone I speak with at the club holds French is such high regard, I don't see him getting moved even to the wing (and definitely not to Wenty).

For mine that leaves Taka and Kirisome fighting for 1 wing spot.

French is quality, imo.

Sure, he's struggled at times - but is safe at the back cleaning up kicks, has great positional play, and his one-on-one defence has improved out of sight.

Plus second year syndrome is real - coaches know what he's capable of, and have studied up on how to minimise his impact.

But he is a genuinely good player, imo.

In Round 2 St George turned the ball over from the kick off, and again several times in 1st half. Hope they get dropsies again.

they were horrid I was there, basically handed the game to us
Concerning thing is they still managed 2 very soft tries and 3 tries in total when we had 58% of the ball.

With the bye coming up which we desperately need its a 4 point game for us. So its crucial we stay in touch with top 7.

Also if there's one team i can see slipping thats ahead of us on the ladder its probably the dragons

Gutherson's not our best attacking weapon. French, Radradra, Norman, Moses, Ma'u and Edwards are all better attacking players. Probably Jennings too.

That game was a sign of things to come, with letting in soft tries and not finishing off teams when we had them at our mercy.

I was a little concerned at the time with the fact we couldn't put them to bed and kept letting them score some soft tries but it was early on and thought it would improve...... and it hasn't 3 months later, it's gotten worse.

Oh that must be why they call it the first-few-weeks-syndrome rather than second-season-syndrome.

The fact is he's just not that dangerous. But he is smart enough to dummy and go himself when the defence is focusing on other players. Plus his support play is excellent. But support play implies some other merkin is making shit happen.

  • Smart
  • Dummy and go yourself
  • Excellent support play
Sounds like dangerous things to me .... the man is a try scoring freak!

Gutherson will do well at 1. That will be his for the remainder of 2017.

French will have to battle it out with Hoff on the right.

Has there been a change you know of that is not yet announced?
If so, is it period?
