Comparing an NRL outside back to an NFL running back is ridiculous. Hymel Hunt isn't on anywhere near the money that a bog average RB would be to risk further and potentially permanent damage to his hand/thumb. Even JT made the decision on his shoulder with his future health in mind. Making claims that Hunt should play with a broken thumb are selfish, out of touch with reality and simply delusional.

We have Ashley Klein as ref tomorrow.

He already stuffed up big big time in round 8 and he'd better not do it again tomorrow. I will be absolutely livid if he does..................

Fire up guys!!!!!!!!!!

They have to crash and pound into 700 + lbs of roided fuelled flesh consistently. Think about that.Just 10 carries per game can leave you sore and battered. I have seen De Marco Murray and Emmitt Smith carry the rock over 30 times in games that's a lot..... with casts on their broken hand/metatarsal bones. After most tackles they came up looking in pain and obviously hurting but they survived. Hunt should be ready to go next game the thumb should be solidified by The Easts game so why are they holding him back?? The Crisps if successful v Easts could catch fire so it should be all hands on deck..
I guess my point is, it's ludicrous to continually compare situations at Souths with those in the NFL.

Even if Emmit Smith ran for 30 runs in a game, on those runs there was notwhere near the level of wrestle in his tackles as you see in the NRL. On most of these runs he either gets bumped or runs into touch. and on the majority of the re st he gets taken to the turf and the play is completed. In the NRL, every team, including us, target injuries to opposition players, and with the wrestle that our game has , unlike the NFL players grab fingers, bend wrists and tread on hands whenever they can.

Then there's defense, which running backs don't even have to think about. In the NRL, if you have a known hand injury you will be subjected to all the attention I mentioned above.

Comparing NFL running backs to NRL centres is ridiculous.

To exemplify the way that comparing different codes is silly, I'll use some of your words.
No Sam B is NO great leader!!! Just compare him at British Rugby compared to Ben Te'o!! Te'o has made EVERY representative team at INTERNATIONAL LEVEL. Sam B...... failed at that!!! Te'o by contrast played SOO England Rugby and now the British Lions tour of New Zealand. That is very very impressive. Did you see Ben BODY SLAM Sonny Bill W like a tent peg last week??? Further John Sutton is a better leader than Sam B will ever be. Who CAPTAINED The Crisps when they saluted against Hasler in that walkover GF and then again in the 39-0 World Club Challenge Romp??? Sutton has played in excess of 300 Games - repeat 300 games... man that is LEADERSHIP AND HEART at the Top Shelf level.

You stated that Teo has made every rep team and then named the lions,QLD and England. sam made England , he's not eligible for SOO, and the Lions didn't play a single game during Sam's time in rugby. Do you expect him to make rep sides he's either ineligible for, or aren't even playing. Harsh!

I'll gladly admit that Teo has more quickly adjusted to rugby than Sam, If I was managing a rugby club, I'd take him over Sam any day of the week, as I'm sure most others would on here.

However, if I'm managing a rugby League club. I take Sam every day of the week.

As further proof, if Teo is so good. Why hasn't Bill Bellicheck signed him up. I'm guessing that it's because Bill understands they're all different sports.

I hope you reply Greg. I appreciate a lot of your content on here, particularly regarding salary cap management. I just think some of your comparisons to other sports are pointless.

NRL is not a tuck and run sport. The NRL back has to catch a ball passed from 5-15 metres away not placed into his hands. NRL back has to catch everything from an ankle high grubber to a 20m bomb. As stated an NRL back has to tackle clutching and grabbing. Most importantly an NRL back has to pass accurately. All these requires precise movements of the fingers, very hard in a brace. I remember Dylan walker scored some tries with a taped broken finger, but once the adrenalin wore off he was out 6-8 weeks. The current backs are doing their job, Hymel can wait.

Agree 100% with both you guys.

I need to learn how to shorten my posts. In the time it ook me to type my post (I type as slow as I think). You both said it better and more succinctly.

Well done.

A dead end discussion.

I hope Madge continues to let the boys play the footy they want too. Sometimes the best thing a coach can do is let the players just play. I really hope Madge will let that happen for the rest of the season. It will be an eye opener for everyone and will save his ass!

He did it last season but waited too long. I just hope he hasn't made the same mistake again.

The boys have to earn the right to play that football.

That is put very succinctly & displays great wisdom!!

I'm NOT a gambling man so don't really understand how the system works!

Sths,I think are at $67 to win the comp??????????????

I'm thinking of putting $500 on them to win the P/ship!!!!!
How much will I win when Sths win the comp?????

Pretty risky, but I like your thinking.

Here's a bit of info on how it works.

$500 @$67 returns $33,500, IF successful. It returns zero otherwise.

The odds for the premiership winner market will be suspended after the start of the first match in a round, and don't come up again until after the completion of the round. For any team that plays that weekend their odds will probably change, in Souths present predicament our odds will probably change dramatically. If the Roosters win you'll see $200+ for us. But our season will be over. If we have a narrow win, we'll probably come in to possibly as low as $34 (current price for raiders, panthers and dragons) but probably a bit higher. A big win we'll possibly drop into $20's.

A couple of other things to consider.

I'm unsure as to how you were planning on placing this bet. If you were going to open an online account, I'd consider Crownbet. They're paying $81 at the moment. IF your bet was successful, your return would be $40,500, not $33,500. Odds comparison website :

https://www.odds.com.au/rugby-league/nrl-futures/2017-grand-final-winner/

If you would like to mitigate your risk somewhat, you might consider placing the bet with someone that has an early Cashout option. Here's what I might do, I'll use $200 as an example. I would place 2 $100 bets, instead of 1 $200 bet. If I got on at $67 and we beat the Roosters and the Cowboys, we might come in to say $21. Because of the change in odds I'm now being offered a $300 cashout for each $100 bet. I have the option of cashing one out, banking my original $200 + $100 profit, and then riding the other bet home knowing you're playing with their money. Or I can let both bets ride if I'm feeling confident.

Hope this helps. Please gamble responsibly..
