I truly am hoping for some radical changes announced in todays team list.
Something like:
Aitken dropped. Saab to debut on the wing and Rava to centre.
Hunt, Vaughan and Friz rested (season is over why flog them now after a 5 day turn)
Ford in for Friz, Timm in for Vaughan and Sailor in for Hunt.
I'd also look at Lovodua to replace Robson on the bench (he's leaving isnt he?)
Graham to replace Lats.

1. Dufty
2. Pearson
3. Rava
4. Lafai
5. Saab
6. Norman
7. Sailor
8. Graham
9. Mctackle
10. Timm
11. Ford
12. T. Sims
13. Lawrie
14. Lovodua
15. Leilua
16. K. Sims
17. Host

No doubt McNugget will just make the one change, Graham in for Lats.

Lafai is bad - unless we are flying over the add line and he gets clean ball, he offers very little. His defence is not what some claim it is. He rushes up past the play on a regular basis - hope lomax is back.

Got skinned alive defensively on Sunday.
Has been a real dud.

DRAGONS

Stat attack: Round 18 v Panthers

The Dragons come up against a red hot Penrith Panthers outfit who continued their climb up the ladder following their sixth-consecutive win.

It hasn't been smooth sailing for the Panthers in 2019 who have spent the majority of the season in the lower half of the table.

The Panthers' rocks and diamonds season is reflected in the stats. The Panthers lay claim to the second-worst attack in the competition managing just 239 points; the Dragons rank much better with 287 points. Despite the Panthers producing the most missed tackles (645), they have conceded the seventh-least points competition-wide (310). Unfortunately the Dragons now lead the league for most points conceded (365).

The Dragons hold a strong record over the mountain men, winning 20 of 33 encounters including four of their past five matches.

Currently sitting in eighth place on the ladder, the Panthers have been boosted by the best goal kicking (85 per cent) and most dropouts forced (40) in the competition.

The Dragons have struggled with the kicking tee without the services of a top echelon goal kicker (75 per cent ), and managed to force almost half the number of dropouts (25) in comparison.

Penrith have ran for the least metres in the competition (21,264) and produced the second-most handling errors (183 which will surely be focus areas of the Dragons in this one

Danger man
Viliame Kikau

Standing at 195 centimetres and weighing in at an imposing 120 kilograms, it's no wonder Viliame Kikau is the leading try scorer for the Panthers in 2019.

With six tries to his name in 12 appearances, Kikau is a constant danger running off the Penrith playmakers. More than capable of finding an offload (12), Kikau also gets through plenty of work considering his272 tackles, 123 metres per game and 48 tackle breaks this season.

The Dragons' edge defence will need to on their game to prevent Kikau's towering frame from busting over the line.

Key matchups
Ben Hunt v James Maloney

The two Origin adversaries meet for the second time this year, but for the first time in club land.

Both players have plenty of experience with over 200 NRL games to their name. Maloney has hit his stride in the back end of the season throwing eight try assists in his last four games. The 33-year-old also has 21 forced dropouts, seven line break assists and two tries.

Hunt has been consistent all season and can lay claim to 10 try assists, 10 forced dropouts, six line break assists and five tries.

Paul Vaughan v James Fisher-Harris

Two different front rowers come head to head in this exciting match-up. Fisher-Harris has played the last four games in the front row for the Panthers after playing the majority of the season in the back row.

Fisher-Harris has made the third most tackles of any player competition-wide (705) at an efficiency of 88.2 per cent while averaging 122 metres and producing 14 tackle breaks.

While Vaughan is behind in defence (458 tackles), his hard and damaging running puts him back in the contest. Vaughan has run for the sixth-most metres of any forward (2045) at an average of 146 metres per game. His 12 offloads and 14 tackle breaks make him one of the top front-rowers in the competition.

MATCH PREVIEW

Panthers v Dragons: Round 18 preview

Widely written off as finals contenders after a dismal first half of the season, the Panthers have well and truly come good with six straight wins.

The news only gets better this week at Penrith with Nathan Cleary set to return alongside James Maloney in the halves.

The Dragons are a team that has most footy followers scratching their heads as to why they don't have more wins with the roster they've got.

With so many Origin players the Dragons should be higher up the ladder, but they've underachieved and pretty much have to approach every game like it's a grand final for the rest of the season.

The Rundown
Key match-up
They locked horns in the Origin series (well maybe not position-wise) and will have a big say in who wins on Friday night. Panthers playmaker James Maloney lines up against Dragons halfback Ben Hunt, knowing Hunt would love to gain whatever revenge he can after the Blues dusted the Maroons in the final two Origin games.

For the Panthers to win
Maloney has shouldered a heavy workload lately and will welcome Cleary's return. Coach Ivan Cleary has copped criticism at various stages of the season and questions were asked when players wanted out. But he has the Panthers humming along nicely after a rocky start and won't change the game plan too much on Friday.

For the Dragons to win
The Dragons haven't been the same ever since they lost Gareth Widdop and then James Graham. But that's not an excuse because Paul McGregor has plenty of rep players on the roster and some fairly handy young talent. Hunt and Norman need to be better at consistently creating attacking options, while the Dragons also have to tighten up defensively.

Brett Kimmorley says
The Dragons are leaking a lot of points of late. Origin can expose any weakness you have in your roster and I think that is what we are seeing with them. As for the Panthers, Ivan Cleary has the team he wants and I expect them to keep going with the roll they are on. Panthers by 8

Stat Attack
The Panthers have missed more tackles (645) and conceded more penalties (130) than any team in the NRL in 2019. James Maloney heads the individual list for most missed tackles (91) and most penalties (21).

And another thing ...
The Dragons head to Penrith on Friday with their season on the line and they probably haven't forgotten what happened the last time they visited Panthers Stadium. In their only meeting last year, the Panthers turned an 8-0 half-time lead into a convincing 28-2 victory over the Dragons and they'll be looking to emulate that on Friday.

What will be the result of their round 18 clash?

Is Hunt injured, rested or dropped?

Why would our marquis million dollar man be rested when the season is basically on the line? Has Mary just given up?
