Lawrence has gone massively backwards defensively. Bad reads & hanging back. That try by Simmons, lawrence stayed back fir too long & koroibete rushed up to try & shut the play down.

Ayshford starting to lift his game. Pity he can only get shit wingers outside him. Woods keeps getting better.

From what I saw today I'm hopeful for the future. It will take time for our new structure and game to stick but I saw a heap of improvement from many players (Moltzen, Reddy and Miller in particular).

Ayshford looks like he's starting to get back into good form and Woods has continually stepped up his game. Koro will improve once he gets a bit more experience, same as Miller. I liked seeing Marshall running around like his usual self. We just need the team to be ready for his flick passes.

I am a bit concerned about Lawrence though. It's almost like he has completely lost all his speed and enthusiasm. Anasta is completely shithouse. He's too small for a back rower and he drops the f**king ball and gives away penalties. I'd be happy to see him dropped and let Pettyborne have the 11 jersey.

I don't know what it is with Blair but he just looks lazy out there. I'm not going to write him off yet but f**k me I was thinking the whole game "how much better would have it been if we bought Sika Manu instead of Blair"....would have been cheaper aswell.

Agree with most. A fair improvement from our questionable players, I don't mind reddy on the wing. Lover the way pettybourne hits the ball up, gives us some mongrel we really need.

Reddy is reasonably safe and a improvement on Utai but there is no way in the world he is the best option we have. Moltzen improved under the high ball but still is piss weak running the ball back and continues to offload dangerously close to to our line because he has no balls to take tackle.

Pettybourne and BMM were both charging onto the ball with some real meaning today. Something the forwards never really did under Sheens. I loved it, Potts just needs to get that attitude into Blair and we'll have some weapons in our pack.

We have produced some pretty good props over the past couple of years. BMM was tops today. Maybe we should get on the Andrew Johns wagon he has done a great job around the traps with young halves, we're screaming for some help

Lawrence is starting to really scare me. I had him picked as our next captain post Robbie & Benji days. Now I'd almost let him go if he does not improve this year.

Watching him run pre hip injury was beautiful, for a bigger guy he looked really agile, balanced and quick. Now he just looks awkward when he runs, almost like his crabbing. It must be killing his confidence.

I was very surprised when he came back from that injury so quick and I'm sure I'm jumping to conclusions but I think his op and/or rehab were botched.

Back to a comment on the game.

Benji is still doing those inappropriate backwards flick passes. I only saw the first half but he butchered a WT attack that had broken the Panthers line but the Panthers had players regrouping and crowding him in near their try line. So, rather than either do a convential pass or take the tackle and go for a quick play the ball he does a flick pass to no-one, the play breaks down and WT loose possession.

It is these types of dumb plays by Benji that Potter has to rein in. Benji is good but his brain sometimes just doesnt keep up with his actions on the field.

We are stuck with him until 2016 or something ridiculous, I believe.

Sadly has been ruined by that horrible hip injury.

I agree on pretty well everything except I thought Blair has improved 100% on last year. He attracts 3 to 4 to tackle him and is pretty quick at playing the ball. I'm pretty happy with him so far this year.

I'd like to see Anasta given more duties when it comes to kicking for field position and field goals just to keep the opposition guessing. I reckon in time he will set up a few tries giving us more options in attack.

I don't know how long it takes for someone to fully recover from an injury like Lawrence's but I'm hoping we see improvement over the next month or so and he is back to his best before the finals.

Yeah that is true what you are saying about Blair. He's definitely valuable but he just doesn't run with enough aggression. He needs to have a few beers before the game, get himself all angry and ready to hit some merkins.

I think the issue with Lawrence is that he's just too injury prone to be as good as he used to be. I understand Anasta's value with his kicking game and experience, but in this day and age your back row needs to be big enough to make some impact. BMM and Pettyborne can both do this whereas Anasta just doesn't seem to offer anything we need IMO (hope I am proved wrong).

One thing I can't help thinking is what would happen if Potter was able to do a massive cut next year regardless of contracts. e.g. imagine if he cut Anasta, Lawrence, Moltzen, Blair, Utai, Tiquiri. The salary cap space would be enormous and we could buy a formidable forward pack. No more news stories about how weak our defense is, we would actually strike fear into other teams. We have quality backs but they need to gain more experience....which would come more easily if we had a brutal, bone crunching pack.

Ayshford has learnt how to get outside his man again, something he forgot all last year, most likely due to not getting any decent ball or room to move from our constantly changing halves combination.

Lawrence is just looking down on confidence and is second guessing himself a lot, especially in defence. I'm confident he'll snap out of it.

If i recall correctly, when Lawrence initially came back from that horrible hip injury, he actually played like a demon and was instrumental in our charge. He then made the Test team and everyone was picking him in their Origin teams. Not sure whats wrong with him, maybe just mental and he needs some confidence. I was hoping Marshall or someone or himself would put him into a gap yesterday to give him a run and boost his confidence. Who knows? Hope the club has sports shrinks on their books.

Who knows, this might be possible this year if the NRL emergency draft plan comes in to operation to help out the Sharks. Great opportunity for teams to offload players they don't want to keep.
