The 2023 Broncos were a very good side with a muppet as coach. If Herbie doesn't channel his inner Dyl and throw a pass to no one there is likely a different GF outcome.

This year they have a coach who has won trophies in multiple countries and at rep level.

Hunt and ARey are old men but if they're fit in the finals they'll be difficult to beat. Or they'll forget how to close out a game.
Hunt? In a big finals match you say?

We fell apart once defensively for 15 minutes in 4 years and it was in a GF against the Broncos, mostly Cleary and Yeo tbh. And we still won and it won't happen again. They had their chance. Broncos might not even be particularly good, Roosters are garbo, good thing they are too as I won't be able to go to the game and it's no loss.

No this Penrith team hasn't been known to run up big scores often during the premiership run. There's only a few 40+ if I remember correctly. It's just a different style of football. More controlled.
If they have the chance to score 50 against the Roosters, I am sure they will take that opportunity seriously.

It isn't that we don't take it seriously.

I said in a thread re Spencer coming back we have a lot of toilers.

We saw with Martin on the weekend. Makes a break A simple draw and pass he holds it and tried to steam roll the defence.

We are great at working over a defence. Our last try last week. we got Martin on an angled run Stonestreet comes in. We spread it to where he wasn't.

you can count on one hand the amount of times we go wide early in a set or attack from our half.

Kenny isn't the sort of hooker who going to take off after a quick ptb. What we do works but even the dumb coaches come up with solutions mid game and stops the scores being run up playing our style.

I expect an easy 30-10 game or something, Still a decent size win but not what it should be on paper

Or, crazy thought, “plodder” is a widely understood term that you are using incorrectly.

Plodder: a player who works steadily but without flair or imagination, often being perceived as slow or lacking in enthusiasm, rather than a player who is particularly skilled or quick. The term often carries a slightly negative connotation, suggesting a lack of flair or brilliance.

Toiler: a player who is a hard worker and consistently puts in a high level of effort, especially in defence. A "toiler" is not necessarily a flashy player, but rather someone who consistently delivers a high level of performance without the need for excessive talent or skill.

Or more like

Plodder - No frills player. Gets in does his job and usually mistake free. So doesn't throw risky passes etc

You could count plenty here in that mould

Toiler - A player who has set backs, usually bounces from club to club in lower grades debuts later.

Someone like Liam Henry - been in Penrith all his career. Signed a 4 year deal here. Debuted at 20. I don't see as a toiler but fits perfectly in that 1st group

Tristan Hope that played for the Tigers last night. Has played for atleast 4 QCup teams on a NRL development deal debuts at 27 fits category 2.

Neither are a bad thing if mixed in with contrasting players.

WTF does it matter what I call someone that gives 7/10 a game...

I am sure you will find something else to be a f**kwit about while offering zero to conversations as always

We have a few plodding posters on here, I'm not sure he's even that level imo

There are maybe 4 who actual post opinions but many many who like to jump on a posted that isn't worded to their liking.

Mitch Kenny level plod no chance. The old prick sitting in local A grade waiting for a chance at 40 more like it

Mitch Kenny Whacks dudes! If that makes him a plodder, I wish we had more plodders.

We should just rest our team for this game. The side that beat Manly in the trial could get this done.

But seriously. My side would be:

1. Edwards
2. Bizza
3. Tago
4. McLean
5. Alamoti
6. Cole
7. Cleary
8. Leota
9. Kenny
10. Smith
11. Garner
12. Martin
13. Yeo

14. Toelau
15. Papali’i
16. Henry
17. Sorensen

18. Laurie

Yep agree. Toleau I'd have on bench and once games dead I'd rest Nathan. Even if it's most weeks for 20mins.
