There is some hyperbole to saying Yeo is a halfback.

However, SOS and Cogger got their current deals by playing alongside him and appearing to be competent first graders.

Also take a shot every time they say half:

You'll need to open a new bottle after fifteen seconds.

Yeah but would NRL players know...

The forum supercoach said otherwise

Thought of this thread when I saw that last night. Gave me a good laugh.

Were comparing apples to oranges.

The game plans of almost all sides are largely not dissimilar the game these days for the most part is very structured.

Some sides do it better than others, have better players in key positions and execute the game plans better when it counts.

Using say Chad Townsend as a comparison to what Isaiah Yeo does is flawed.

The Storm. Broncos and a few other clubs including the Sea Eagles have the ability at there best to put on big scores on there opponents. We for the most part don’t often win games by huge margins.

Im going down for the Storm game, should be interesting, early season not sure whether the outcome either way will mean too much long term.

Yeah but those team you mentioned have decent 7's. Hence why I used Townsend because he lost his spot in Newcastle a few teams need a 7 and he still had no takers

Yeo is just a great footy player, not because he is a playmaker if that’s what you believe, it’s because of his drive, determination, commitment etc etc.

There are dozens of players in the league that you could describe like that, but most of them are just 'workers', 'reliable' or upper end 'plodders'.

What I am saying is that you are selling Yeo short. Yeo was a pretty average 2nd rower - good defensively, fit and tried hard but had limited impact. He'd be a decent/good prop if he played there but nothing remarkable.

It's his skill and footy IQ in and around the ruck and at 1st receiver that sets him apart.

Simply for play while in the halves, I would give Luke Lewis a run as a plod halfback.

Didn't play enough games there but I actually thought he was quite good for us at halfback. He needed a 5/8 with a very strong kicking game to complement him through and he didn't really have that.

Late Panthers Luke Lewis was a great #13 though.

That is the thing the IQ over 90% of others in the comp.

As @Munky said we have had a few guys look good at 7 here go on and not look so good when Yeo isn't calling the shots

The biggest challenge in Ivans career post 2020 will be when Yeo is too old/busted or retired. He has proven we can plug almost anyone into 'the system'.

Nathan out for large stretches - we insert plodder halfback or Luai. We still win. Luai out - we insert plodder 5/8 we still win.

Many of us thought that Api was a key in and around the ruck - replaced him with a ploddish hooker. Our system still holds up.

Even when Edwards goes down or plays injured - our system holds up.

The element that stays consistent here and the key to the Panthers is Yeo.

Are you being serious?? Or are you actually this clueless…

are you actually suggesting that Yeo could steer our team around the field, work out the back of shape, kick in general play.

All because he does a bit of ball distribution for us.

Chad Townsend is a premiership winning 7 for pity sake.

Please tell me you aren’t this dumb..
take Maloney and Ennis out of that Sharks team and they sit in the bottom 4.

Townsend will go down as one of the worst premiership winning 7's
