I hope Flanno has them working double time on their defence this week. I always thought Flanno coached teams were gritty and won off the back of their defence. I can’t say I’ve seen that thus far. In fairness though, there have been some rule changes over the last few years which probably explains some of these score blow outs.
Still, some of our defensive efforts last week were abysmal, I really expected better after 2 offseason’s with Flanno. I hope he can fix this asap.

I've defended Feagai a lot in the past.. and even that try where he came racing up people are blaming him for was actually more Suli's fault than his.. you can see Suli stay in when he should have been turning out, and by the time the ball is on the outside of Suli, Mat's only choice was to jam in and try to shut it down.

However, the rest of Mat's game was pretty poor and I just don't see how you can pick him this week. Unfortunately I also see Flano putting Lawrie in which will be tear your hair out stuff. The way Flano's spoken about Lawrie a couple of times over the off season is really concerning to me.. speaking as if he's going to be really important for us. We need to get Klemmer in asap, the middle is horrendous right now.
What frustrates me with Mat (mostly but other wingers too) is when they are flat to border line in front of their centre in attack.
It happened again on Saturday, Suli slipped a pass out to Feargai but he had over run it. One metre back in formation and he catches it and is away

That happens with a winger that has no acceleration and is only equal to or slower than the centre.

I wouldn't pick Mat this week but I think Flano will.

jeeezuz.............i thought that where the Bulldogs were kicking from ie way to close .....(we didnt hold field position at all)...........and Burton at the wheel sending effortless 50m high torps to a man standing under the ball on the wing was brutal

I dont care who it was under those bombs and left no CT doing early hit ups.......... that would have completely sucked dogs balls (excuse the pun)

I know Fegai is not the total answer but he will play his part until a player below hits massive form and shoots thru into the NRL

I thought our two wingers looked solid not dominant in NSW cup on the wknd

I think CT and Fegai have a role for rounds 1 and 2..............then a bye..........then all will be back to match fitness and all ready to fight on an equal footing

At the time and on reflection, I feel very disappointed that Flanno did not make the necessary adjustment to neutralize Burton's kicking tactic. Leilua running full pelt at him on the last tackle would have made him more nervous and less able to b so accurate.

Kickers are protected nowadays. We can't afford to have Leluia suspended.
