So if we put it dead isn't it like us killing the ball in which case it should comeback to the knock on. it is not what the 7 tackle was set up for. That would now make a well placed bomb that lands 10 out from the goal line now in risk of giving away 7 tackles
If its the one I'm thinking of it wasn't a 7 tackle set. Fox originally showed a zero tackle but after the first changed it to 2nd. Still, I thought it should have been a Bulldogs scrum feed where the knock on occurred. It made little difference in the end.

He was also great under the high ball and a good support player. I had no issue with him playing fullback. I did and still aren't sure about the rush job to make him a 6

I wouldn't say he was great under the high ball. He was mostly good but had some off days.

I agree people go too far the other way though. He wasn't a bad fullback and if Edwards wasn't absolutely killing it I'd be unsure about shoehorning him into 6 as well. As it stands I think giving a Edwards/Moylan/Cleary plenty of time to gel is by far our best option.

I think this was a pretty good win in a dangerous game. The Bulldogs played like they did in previous wins over Brisbane and St George, following heavy defeats and lots of media talk. They were pretty much at full strength. They might not have much in the way of flair in attack but they grind matches out when they are on and they have a very tough forward pack. I think this will be seen as an important win in the fullness of time.

Yes! That 20 metre restart was a puzzling decision, given that the knock-on occurred in the field of play. Sterlo picked it up as well during tonight's call.

DWZ had a night to forget but he also would have scored a double. Blake blew a certain try for him early in the 2nd half when Blake decided to go through the defence for a try rather than pass it to an unmarked DWZ.
Blake didn't want to push the pass. Fair enough I thought.
Seriously though the refs don't know the rules.
It's embarrassing, those officials should have a week in reserves for that error.

The scoots I take it you mean? I think Peachey can do that from lock atm. Atleast Waqa recieves the ball in a position to pass it. Peachey is always looking to step back in kinda why I like him in the centre role

Yeah but if he plays lock he will be sitting on the bench for half the game. That early work important for us and its Whare's biggest knock as a centre.

Our support is mainly falling into two categories tonight. Category 1 'we were shit, we were lucky, we lacked structure, we lacked discipline'.

Category 2 'we should have won by more, the dogs are crap'.

I just don't get either of these two viewpoints. The dogs have a forward pack chock full of internationals. Klemmer, Graham and Jackson are nails hard, Hopoate and Morris are SOO players. Over the last month or so, they have had Jackson and Klemmer backing up from SOO, Grahm missing through injury They have had Reynolds missing for 7 games (he may be crazy, but he is their best half), Brett Morris and Hopoate have been out injured. Their position is misleading due to injuries and suspensions. With all their players onboard, they will be what they have always been, a tough, disciplined football team. They are the seventh best defensive team, in spite of the injuries and suspensions because they have a tough culture at the Bulldogs.

We saw that last night. They kept hammering away in the forwards and made good metres at times. They had their usual shortcomings in the halves, but were still tough to beat. Hopoate 208m, Morris 135m great numbers from two SOO backs. Why do we think we should have thrashed them?

And now to the other "we're shit and we know we are' viewpoint. Given the dogs have a tough forward pack and we were missing Moylan and Merrin and Cartwright and JFH aren't fully fit yet, I thought we did quite well. Cleary's kicking game has improved out of sight (Brandy is a genius) and we scored points through building pressure NOT luck. The kicks that led to tries are exactly the type of play we lacked earlier in the season which just led to us handing the ball over. Our 5/8th was having his 2nd first grade game and played well. As others have said, our centres bombed a few tries (probably not used to getting the ball with Moylan missing) so the score probably flatters the dogs.

In the forwards, once again we stood our ground and matched them. Tamou 183m, RCG 136m, Yeo 100m, Browne 103m even Cartwright made 77m in 7 carries in his short time on the field. This was in spite of losing Latu who only played 21 minutes. Wallace made 52 tackles.

The last two weeks have shown promising signs that sometimes we can grind it out, its not pretty but lurking beneath the surface is still a brilliant skilful team which we saw glimpses of last night. Flashy won't get the chocolates against the dogs, we kept that in check and in my view played the right way to win.

This was really well said. I said it before: this game(excluding errors) was played very well by the Panthers.

It was twenty tap and definitely a 7 tackle set. The ball went over the dead ball line off a Penrith player(doesn't matter if it went forward), someone from Penrith should have made the effort to put a hand on the ball so it was just a hand over ten metres out and a 6 tackle set.

I agreed with Sterlo at the time but after having it explained in thi thread I think sterol was wrong. Apparently after Dallin knocked on the ball rolled through the in goal and went dead, so its twenty tap and 7 tackle set.

It only really was an issue when TMM did what he did to piss someone off. Until Bryce was 5/8th then injured it was fine to have Moylan at FB

Merrin played big minutes as lock. No reason Peachey can't do similar I just get so frustrated when we look for the offload and no one is there having Peachey roaming fixes that too. Him and Bryce I hate being restricted to a side of the field

Scans have revealed Leilani Latu's season is over after the Panthers prop suffered a broken jaw in the win over the Bulldogs at Pepper Stadium on Thursday.

The 24-year-old will undergo surgery in the coming days and will be out of action for at least 10 weeks.

atu played 19 games for the Panthers in 2017. He ran for more than 1200 metres, made 341 tackles and scored two tries.

Latu's immediate replacement in the Panthers side will be revealed on Tuesday when coach Anthony Griffin names his team to face Wests Tigers.

Peach could play big minutes but griffin wont do that. Also Peach will fatigue more defensively than Merrin, he is smaller and would be trying to wrestle props all game. Also that would mean Carty has to shift back to the edge or play little minutes, JFH also.

Well this will propably see Peach shift to the bench with Whare coming back, Carty can take some minutes also.

I think so. Carty should increase his minutes next week or so. He could share the lock time with Peach and Fish. Fish could also shift the middle to be part of the front row rotation. Griffin usually likes 2 props off the bench. I think Fish could handle a 25 - 30 minute stint. He would offer more than Leota's 20 minutes.

Yeah I think we will start with Browne, JFH, and Tamou as our middle 3 again this week but we should think about starting Carty, you don't really want to be bringing Carty and Peach on at the same time.

Depends how highly you rate Edwards I guess. Moylan and TMM are at similar levels for me.

If peach is moved he will get griffin's ten minute spot, and katoa will have to drop out.
I don't mind the idea of JFH to prop but we have kikau or akaoula who can do the job.
