Great day at the footy today. Weather was fantastic. Good crowd. Walked away with 2 points and no voice. I'll take that trade any day.

Thought we played ok. Tigers have improved since round 2 and definitely had a dig. 5th tackle options were pretty poor and we still struggle to build pressure. Brilliance from May, Cleary, Blake and Edwards was the difference in the end.

This is the end of our "soft" run though. We'll see what we're really made of in the next 4 weeks.

I still don't think we are near the football we need to be competitive in September but given the first 9 games of the season I think we are building some positives out of this season. We've got a young side who are learning how to win tough when they're not playing well and that's crucial these days. We have Merrin, Moylan, Whare and Latu to come back in and we might not be as far off the six sides above us as we think. Next season we should get a lot more out of Cartwright, JFH and Kikau along with having a settled spine.

Carty is looking slightly more physical with his hits. His attack has been quiet. But honestly I think its a good thing for now. If he slowly warms up in the next few weeks he could give us a real boost come finals time.

Only missed 2 tackles aswell. Better than Browne even with his 5 missed tackles.

Carty can hit, I did get a bit worried with Tedesco taking him in around the ruck but he did alright.

What he does for us in attack is really allow us to swing the ballacross the field like another half, none of our other forwards can catch and pass like Carty so we look so much more fluent when he's in there, it allows the halves to play wider at times. He had some nice offloads.

Has May done enough to take Katoa's spot? I think so, he can coverhoondr in a pinch.

I hear what you're saying about the negativity & it's genuinely great to get these wins. But the fluidity of the play still concerns me. We've very rarely played well for big blocks of the game this season. I'm not seeing any improvement here.

We're throwing the ball around way too much, on early tackles as well. And as Griffin said our 5th tackle options are rubbish.

I'd just like to see more structure, particularly early in the sets.

I think the structure is improving and at least Hook realises the 5th tackles as shit, he also spoke about us needing to settle down and build pressure more.

For me it's just the mistakes we have, missed tackles aren't good but our Defdnce has improved but it's like every week we have some players just doing dumb or careless shit, Peach over the sideline this week plus plenty of other dropped ball from the team, you can't give good sides those opportunities.

Neil Henry whinged about the refs in our game and it hasn't done his side much good. You are probably right though. We got a nasty hammering in Townsville against Green's side.

Cowboys have the best penalty for/against in the comp already. Very rich of Paul green to complain.

Looking st the stats our 1-7 all ran for more metres than our starting props and lock, all 5 backs with big metres this week. 45 tackle breaks spread out between the 1-7 also, we really get good value out of our backs, even the halves are going for 100m lol

I noticed in the second half we had entire sets run one out by our backline. It was a fast game and I bet the pack was getting a rest.

I'm surprised people have turned on Peachy. Can we decide if we prefer Whare or him please. In attack Whare will never match what Peachy does and I don't know if Whare is the defensively amazing centre he's suppose to be.

Back to the game. You cannot put old heads on young shoulder.

This is a big part of our issues, Cleary is as switched on as young halves go but he just needs that experience before he can really control and dominate games consistently each week, playing with May and Edwards in the spine there are going to be some dumb options.

200m from Peach yesterday, 8 tackles breaks and some really tough runs with fast play the balls when the tigers were trying to pin us down the other end. No way I'd move him he's far to valuable as a centre. He had one bad mistake but he won't do that again any time soon I'm sure.

The great thing about our back five is that we never get pinned in our 20.

We get atleast one 15 - 20 metre hit up coming out of our end which allows us to kick from at worst the 40 every set.

Once Merrin is fit we will look a much stronger side with Carty starting at lock and Merrin at prop. You'd have rcg and jfh coming off the bench, very solid.

Yeah it's a big adavantage atm, gives our middle a chance to muscle the next set defensively also.

Exactly. People want to blame him for 2 of those tries. But he didnt concede the initial linebreak. He and Mansour were left covering a shitload of the field while retreating. I dont think Whare does any better in those situations... or actually Blake to be honest as whare would be on the opposite side of the field.

Whare/Blake wouldnt have tried getting around them on the first tackle and been bundled into touch. For mine that was his worst error as it was high risk play with little chance at success on tackle 1.

He should have had a double. But our idiot players stop in the line and the Tigers knew how to milk the penalty.

Browne cost us a try and got us penalised Missed 5 tackles and made a whopping 56m or whatever it was. How shit does he need to be before Akauolo and/or Kikau get a decent chance?

How many times did Mansour get the ball inside the attacking 20? Compare the left to the right side Blake/DWZ are flying. Just need to sort the left out.

2 tries today, 2 v Manly, Chambers and Bird both gave Peachey side a bath. It is by far our weak side. That is the issue Peachey's power running works in other positions

It was a frustrating game but IMO there were good signs.

Our execution was a little down but we actually put on a few decent backline moves today which gave our outside men some space. Blake & DWZ are seeing a heap more ball.

We miss plenty of one on one tackles unfortunately but overall our defensive structures have improved out of sight. We very rarely get caught short on the edges & if we do our commitment to cover defence is excellent.

Seems the flavour of the month to be negative despite now being in the 8 but I honestly don't think we're too far off. If we click one week, I think we'll put a serious score on a team & be very hard to stop the weeks after that

Good post. Most of the errors was when attacking their line. Shows we have the structure sorted just need to excute. Whether it is good enough for the top teams time will tell

He'll be the one to make way for Merrin's return you'd have to think.
