Not only that but not all penalties are of equal impact. When you get a penalty on the second tackle 5 metres out from their line, it gives you one extra tackle, that's it, and the opposition gets to reset their defence. It is of no benefit at all. You get one near halfway on the 5th tackle, the benefit is much greater. This is what happened last week. We got a lot of low-benefit penalties and NZ got a lot of high benefit ones, even though the count ended 9-all. The sin bin is meant to compensate for this anomaly, but it wasn't used even though at least 5 or 6 of our 9 penalties were on their line. For this reason and many others as well, penalty counts do not give an accurate indication of who got the rub of the green.
(A) you seem to be of the thinking that in every game, both sides should have an even share of penalties at the same points in time in the same areas of the field. This is such a flawed concept of the game, I don't know where to begin. Refs would have to actually manipulate the game a lot more than you claim they do now for this to happen. In a word: nonsense.
(B) You are always crying about the refs after almost every single game.
(C) "Winning teams in 2018 have been the least penalised sides in their games on just 41.91% of the time, which means conceding more penalties than your opponent actually leads to more success than losses."
"With all the focus on ball handling, completions, conceding penalties and handling errors as being important factors in deciding games, what it all comes down to is go forward. Making metres carrying the ball and from kicks has proven to be more vital than any other aspect of the game."
(Why the f**k can't I even give the name of the site I got this from? Stupid bloody forum.)
In other words, NRL fans are some of the biggest moaners about refs in the sporting world.
