Andrew Johns came out today and said that Doogs should go to Fullback with gids in the halves.

I remember a while back where mad dog played fullback for most of a season and was a dead set gun. Probably wont be anything like that now, and probably not worth the risk. Food for thought though.

Still believe Roberts is the better long term option.
same here Roberts > Stig imo

the criticism stig is copping is deserved he's been terrible, being a rookie doesnt make you immune from criticism

Roberts is small, average defender, kicking game that barely cuts it in NYC and has never been a great organiser.
All his firstgrade games he has played second fiddle and looked OK, and ironically, his two best games were when he played second fiddle to Stig.
If Roberts were good he'd carve up in NYC. He doesn't. Barely holds his own most weeks.
At the start of the Bennett era you really can't say any player won't improve 100%, but Roberts will have to if he's going to have a firstgrade career.

haha it isn't Roberts > Stig, it's Roberts > Mullen. I swear besides the Raiders and titans game those 2 (Stig, Roberts) were our best halves combo over the past 16 weeks or so (Maybe not really, but they were going dam good for 2 rookie halves)

Roops I know Stig is one of your kids but come on. You're underselling Roberts extremely. Who cares about NYC, he made a very good account of himself in first grade as far as I'm concerned, and if it wasn't for a horrible night with the boot against St. George he might've been the one in the 6.

And he wasn't afraid to put his body on the line either, in his 6 games Tyrone missed 9 tackles. In his 10, Stig has missed 36. Even when we were well on top of teams, he missed 5 vs Raiders, 5 vs Cronulla and 4 vs the Gold Coast. Maybe when you're setting up tries like Thurston or Marshall you can be excused, but Stig isn't. He's just catching the ball, stepping into the line and missing tackles.

Want to know the last time Stig registered a try assist? Round 19 against Manly. We've scored 21 tries in that time, and Stig hasn't had a hand in any of them. Even in games when we scored 40 or 50 points. Cameron Ciraldo has had a better strike rate in putting players through holes for tries.

If Roberts needs to improve by 100%, Stig will have to double that. The honeymoon is over.

The honeymoon is over.
There is no honeymoon for halves at the Knights.
Mullen and Gidley are both regularly considered for the halves for NSW - Knights fans want them in reserve grade.
Many of you are delusional about halfbacks. If they aren't the best players on the field by a long way, they are rubbish.
The sad thing is, you will never see another Joey. You either get over waiting for the new messiah, or whine about rookie kids forever i suppose.

I've always rated Roberts as a running 6 in the juniors, but i've never seen anything at 7 worth raving about.
I rate Api Pewhairangi as having much more potential as a playmaker.

For the usual morons - Roberts is a North coast guy who has been in our junior system for 5 years or so, and Api is a kiwi in his second year at the club. Both trained with firstgrade and played in the pre season trials as number 6s.

If I were to keep just one for the Centurions next year i'd keep Api.

One positive for Roberts is that he is supposed to be almost as fit as Kidley. You don't see any sign of an amazing workrate on the field, but maybe he has potential to play hooker where fitness counts.

I think Stig has the skills and ability but he looks to be holding back. I cant remember the last time he went to the line and threw a short ball to an inside runner.

Its a real mystery because he was doing all the right things in his 1st few games but has gone very 1 dimentional of late

Late Mail: Jarrod Mullen is likely to be ruled out with a shoulder injury. Either Tyrone Roberts will replace him in the halves, or Kurt Gidley will move to halfback with Peter Mata'utia coming in as fullback. Adam MacDougall is also in doubt with a knee injury.

If both Doogs and Sau are out who do we bring into the centres with Lulia?

Likiki
Williams
Filipio

Bloody good question.
Pretty sure Williams won't get a run.

Both Filipo and Likiliki are in good form now. I'd go with Filipo because he has had a few games already, but Likiliki is as ready as he'll ever be too.

I disagree with almost all of that mate.

Agree with Api though. He has another year in NYC so he is a good chance of Centurions/NRL contract if he has an injury free year in NYC next year.

You talking about the same Tyrone Roberts that the rest of us have been watching, Billy?

I reckon you are usually fairly close to the mark, but you are so far wide of it this time, I'm surprised you can even see it.

The same guy who has led us to 2 years of mediocrity in NYC.
Before that he was a very good 6 outside Stig.
Still is.
Never seen him bust a game open as a 7. He doesn't have those skills as far as i can see, but who knows, a different coach might have him playing like Prince or Cronk.
