Lomax was out for 8 weeks after having surgery on his hand and when interviewed after Saturday's ISP game he admitted he struggled with match fitness. He has been selected today, possibly prematurely but due to Aitken's injury.

Field's form has been rather ordinary for most of the season, then he had a great game last Saturday and has been rewarded by being named on the bench today.

In all reality, neither of these players were any chance of seeing any first grade over the last few months for these reasons, regardless of how bad the first grade side were going.

I hope they both go well...

Recently re-signed for 4yrs. Wont see any 1st grade for a while as he will be a DP for at least the first year.

Holey god, one of those fields they were playing on looked like someone’s local park.
The sooner they go back to playing all three grades on the same day, same ground as first grade the better.

I really like this interview and although he was "glowing" on his assessment of McGregor I had a sense of "what else can I say" about him that wouldn't infect the already poisoned team.

Everything else was enlightening I thought.

get rid of Nene, Aitken, Lafai for starters and move Widdop to accomodate Field

for any defensive leaks early on well always out score any team, and defence will come its already starting to, but no Old Froghead will never drop Aitken even though hes the worst 'centre' in the comp, nor drop Nene whos the slackest winger nor drop Lafai whos not a first grader aswell. thats why Ol Froghead MUST go....

Lomax, poor bugger is on a hiding to nothing, should have at least 5/6 first grade games under his belt. Whilst not a big fan, I was impressed with Field vs. the Tigers. Here’s hoping McDopey brings him on for more than a 5 minute cameo.

Chucking a player that’s playing SG Ball anywhere near first grade is an absolute idiotic move.

He’d get destroyed, needs time in Flegg first.

The devastating part about that article is that Aitken will probably return and of course no matter who replaces him and how good they play Aitken will walk straight back into the starting lineup. How very sad !!

If things don't change with the young players getting a shot, there will be more heading out the door in 12 months time.
Players can't keep being told to be patient and wait. Something has to give eventually.
They see other players their same age in first grade and start to ask themselves why they aren't getting a go.
