No Soward, we lose this weekend - John is solid but wont trouble the Roosters in any way

Mansour back is a no brainer
George Jennings has been great and is definitely fit for an 80 minute first grade performance. Josh Mansour has missed the preseason, trials and not played any footy since last years Four Nations. Selecting him is a risk. Should have atleast played a game for our NSW cup side first.

Hopefully he kicks on from where he left off. But I wouldn't be surprised to see him struggle in his first game back

No in the tele today Cleary says he is in some doubt for NSW cup. Its disapointing to see George go back to nsw cup after a good two games but thats footy, its Mansours wing and if the doctor and physio say he is fit to play then he should take his spot back.

This. Mansour is the Australian winger and I'd think that they'd have him up to speed fitness wise or he wouldn't be starting. Cleary isn't a silly bloke (for the most part i.e. Whare at FB)

If George Jennings is injured or in doubt that changes things entirely.

Josh Mansour is an Australian representative, but he's still human. Missing the preseason, trials and opening rounds would more than likely have him a bit behind where he would normally be at as far as match fitness goes. Look at how sluggish the blokes returning from injury were in the trials.

The sooner Mansour is back to his best the better. He's our best meter gainer and he and Idris can carry our forward pack when they don't show up. I'm just worried he will be a liability.

I understand your concerns re Mansour but this is one of those situations where the coaching staff are in the best position to judge, they see him daily and would have a good idea if he needed a stint in reggies to get back to speed.

Just on Mansour I know he just re-signed but I would start looking to move him on if possible, it seems like George can provide a similar inpact on that wing for a lot less, and if George went down we have a couple others that can do the job there. I love Mansour but with Merrin coming in and all these young guys are going to need upgrades when their contracts are up it could provide some cap room.

He's off contract at the end of next season which I imagine is when he'll move on. I think between injuries and Origin, and potentially DWZ, Moylan and Idris moving to other positions, there'll be enough opportunities for Blake, Rennings and Gennings to keep them interested until then.

Cleary mentioned that Mansour has been doing full training for a few weeks now and has been frustrated that he hasn't been allowed to play. Hopefully that means we've been conservative the last few weeks and he is ready to go.

Im not too worried about oppurtunities for the kids I know they will come. I was thinking purely from a salary cap point of view, though I did think he had signed a longer contract for some reasons. I still think if we can get a club interested after this season we should bite, as long as Mansour agrees of course.

I love Josh Mansour playing for us, but I agree we should let him move on after his current contract. I think George Jennings will be even better then him after a couple of seasons in the NRL. Hopefully each Jennings is even better then the previous one. Unlikely that George and Robert can ever pass Michael as a player, but if they even reached the same level it would be great for us.

They're very similar players, but George has a bit more pace and footwork (the Jennings DNA) while being similarly strong and tough to bring down. It's ridiculous to think he is playing this well in the NRL after missing an entire season last year. Also impressive that he is playing this well despite being the least athletic of the Jennings boys. But what he gives up to his brothers in speed, he seems to have more then made up for in brute strength.

If Idris isn't moved to the forward pack, he might have to be moved on also. I love him playing for us aswell, but we're in a position where we have a ridiculous stack of talent coming through who can do a great job for us on lesser money. Although with Idris atleast we can move him to the forward pack to keep him around. Mansour is pretty much a winger and nothing else.

I am with MX I think any player out for more then 2 months should comeback via NSW Cup. Backs especially as we can't give them less game time like a forward

I'm worried about a lot of things, but Josh Mansour's fitness is not one of them. He's been back at training for months. He's probably more aerobically fit than ever. They would have gradually increased contact training for him. With Gennings ready to go, Ivan would have had the luxury of being conservative with Josh. I'll trust the judgement of the coach and the man himself if they say he's ready. I reckon he'll kill it.

John will come in and do a reasonable job for us. Even with Soward I think beating the Roosters, particularly when they are coming off a loss, is a big ask.

Anyone thinking that we will win all but one of our next 6 games, some of them easily, is overly confident in our teams ability.

Given that we are again a real top 4 threat this year, minimal disruption is better. I'd love to see Moylan in the halves, but changing and then changing back isn't ideal.

Few sides have the quality of depth that allows for John as our first drop half. That said, few sides seem to have to deal with this problem... so good luck or bad luck?

This will put a lot of pressure on Wallace, Segs and especially Moylan to deliver.

Glad this is happening sooner rather than later. Flicking through our draw, this is probably the most manageable. We should still be looking at 3/6 at least.

I don't think players should be punished for getting injured. If you are playing well when you get injured, you should remain the incumbent for that position upon your return. If you are a state or national representative, it is a no brainer that you return to FG. It's disappointing for Jennings, but as Derryn Hinch used to say...."That's life".

I think Blake lashed out with an elbow when he was tackled.
Didn't look like much.
Docker was a bit unlucky, jets fullback beat a tackle then was hit by 2 panthers at speed but Docker got him a bit high and split him open. Was a big hit.

Blake should never play fullback again on this performance.

Panthers down 8 nil at half time.
