Nathan will be ineligible to play against the Bunnies with the 11 day rule so Schneider will have to come in like it or not.

It was a gutsy effort, won all the stats everywhere but on the scoreboard. Conceding tries on the last tackle hurts big time, three or four tonight.

Well played lads..not the shellacking expected by some..some promising performances from some players under the microscope..Tago, Blaize, Cole, Milky..all had great moments..in a potentially disastrous night, heads were held high..Bellyache will have a few koniptions in the sheds though..Moses and a few of the senior boys, need to reset and bring their A-game next week..

After absolutely ridiculing Cole, Jenkins, Tago and McLean, before the game and declaring Cleary has no idea, it turns out they all had a red hot go in a tough match. Maybe Cleary does know what he is doing after all.

With half the spine missing and a rookie fullback, halfback and five eighth we were still able to score points. Best of all, we had a great attitude and work ethic. Last week, we looked jet lagged and you would swear that somebody had kidnapped Yeo and replaced him with a doppelganger. 25 tackles and five misses is time to start an investigation......

As for this game:

Henry is my type of player, goes all day, isn't scared of bullies like NAS and will spill blood for the cause. I think Leota's days as a starting forward are numbered.

Talagi has great balance and footwork and will really add something to our attack, but I was impressed by how hard he tried in defence. 21 tackles and 1 miss. Good debut.

Cole may have kicked out on the full, but he grew in confidence as the game went on and showed he has a good short kicking game and a silky passing game. No Cleary, mean't he had to step up and I think he did.

Yeo was dreadful last week by his standards, but back to his best with 134m and 42 tackles. Great leadership.

Is it me, or does Alamoti just look better on the wing? He has more pace than expected and without all the defensive decision making, he is just a better player.

Welcome back Bizza, we missed you. He sought out contact and will be better for the run.

Milky made a few mistakes but he gave it everything. He was out of position a few times, but given the circumstances, its no reflection on him. He will get plenty of games this year, especially when SOO comes.

What our youngsters showed is that there is great potential in the new players. Cole, Talagi, McLean and Jenkins can handle first grade, they just need experience. Cole and Talagi have great passing skills and held the ball up nicely when they went to the line it caused the Storm a lot of problems. I think they might be able to get us through SOO if they can train together and build an understanding.

Tough loss, but from the fire of defeats like this, iron is forged and hardened ready for when it counts.

Why not Cole and Talagi? They worked well together.

Not sure he does need to come in. We scored 5 tries tonight.

Their rep halves in Hughes/Munster kicked for less metres than we did.

I'd have Schneider in the 14 but the attacked flowed well enough

Cole Talagi and Toelau are ALL ahead of Schneider by a long way. Id even put leota at halfback ahead of schneider. He should genuinely never see first grade unless half the team blows up

Anyone that had doubts about our premiership credentials tonight should watch bellamys post match on 9.

Sums up where we are at..

We are elite team.. last week was a bleep on the 5 year map..

He looked more worried than happy.

Im sure ivan will be upset we didnt get the 2 points. Not from lack of effort though.

Jack cole missing the penalty kick twice..

Mitch kenny with a few bad passes.

Few bad mistakes cost us.

Otherwise a few things go our way and we beat the full stregth storm without the best player in the game and the aus fb...

Schneider much better as a game manager in my opinion. Make shifts rarely work in key spine positions, Jenkins tonight had a crack did well but not in position when and where he needed to be. That’s just the reality. Cole and Blaize did well, but when the game was there to be had both not experienced enough and not able to take the game by the throat. Not there fault but I’d be taking the more experienced option against the Bunnies.

a few thoughts:
- we (fans & team!) should definitely come away with confidence knowing that we still have the collective spirit to dig in & never give up. Despite losing our halfback/general/goalkicker, we pushed the premiership favourites all the way. if anything, Melb would be the ones worried knowing that they couldnt put us away & know we'll bank that for the games that matter at the tail end of the season

- I despise the Melb win at all costs 'gamesmanship'. Grant deliberately tackling Yeo in the back playing for a penalty should've been a penalty to us. despite being on the wrong end of what seemed hometown decisions, at least Gee penalised Munster at the end for doing Melb things. I wish they paid for it because it has to cost them one day

- the rookies all warmed up as the game went on but in the end we just didnt have enough polish to pull off a great upset but it's evident the boys still have the fire within. these losses are only going to burn which should dislodge any complacency/entitlement residue

- i'd love to know if there are any stats on the conversion rate of 'tries scored on the next set after a penalty is received'. felt like Melb scored off leg up penalties on multiplie occasions

One bloke that was huge was papali

Man on a mission when he came on.

I watched him and just got 'penrith' vibes of the last 5 years

He put his body on the line and was soo good.

Him, garner and henry off the bench could be a huge combo going forward.

As i said... sometimes you get more out of a win then a loss.

If wed won last week by a try in the corner om the 79th minute wed all be here saying it was one of our worst performances... which it was.

Tonight we won..bellamy knows it too..

A loss can build a year. I think this is pur moment

I’ve got no real complaints against the officials I don’t think they cost us the game. Sure as always there were some contentious moments but overall I’ve got no complaints. I did think the pass from dummy half to Kamimicikica in the play before there fourth try was metres forward but go figure I thought it was three metres forward but I could be wrong.
