I'm okay with that team except Merrin should be picked over Aitken (what is Mary's obsession with having an outside back on the bench that he doesn't use anyway!) And anyone should be picked over Rava. Why not Saab or Ramsay?

I like Graham at 13 but Ford, Host or Merrin are all a far better option at 17. If Aitken is going to play in forwards then fair enough I’ll give him a shot but if it’s a 5 minute cameo on the wing stuff that. I really thought Fuimaono and Ford eliminated the need to carry an outside back.

I guess on the plus side he will get dropped for not making 15 hit ups gaining 177metres and 2 line breaks as Mary expects from the player he picks each week in that bench spot cameo.

OT, I understand the point you make but to me it is a step forward not to select players just because they have recently been signed which has happened regularly under Mary. To my mind, the selections Rounds 1-3 represent an improvement from past seasons, even though we can make out a case for some of the players omitted. Having said that I am giving credit to Flanagan not Mary for what I am judging an improvement.

I agree on Graham but perhaps his minutes will be limited. I would rubbish Aitken's selection if sure he was going to spend time in the centres. But I am hoping he may finally be given the chance to play some minutes in the backrow where he could be an asset rather than the opposition's favourite target in the backline.

So for me with Lomax in the centres and Kerr getting a run I am more positive than I thought I would be.

I’d make Frizell play every minute of every game for the rest of the year.

how Aitken is still anywhere near first grade is beyond me.

I’m no rocket surgeon, but a specialist back on the bench should be able to play multiple positions. As far as I’m aware, Aitken can only play 1 position, and not very well.
