We are a better team than 2021 though. We have recruited better. Injuries will be the great leveller by seasons end. Who will be left standing. The early pace of the game is not sustainable.

I think Hook will make minimal changes. I think Sloan will be dropped, Ramsey to FB, Moga to come in in the wing as we need another big body bringing the ball back. He won’t move Hunt to 9 and we don’t have another 6 so I’m guessing Amone will get another chance. I really don’t know what Ford adds. JDB has to start for mine.
And at this stage, nor does Sims.

One other thing I have noticed over the last 2 games is that Penrith and the Sharks seem to do everything in attack and defence so much faster than the Dragons. We need to move to a modern game plan.
That’s the really scary thing and I mentioned it last year. We didn’t play well. We were rorted by the refs. It was pissing down with rain. All of that is true. What is also true is that we don’t look like a football team. Structure. Tactics. Discipline. We fail almost every area you look at in coaching. I have huge concerns over Hook. He’s stuck in a by-gone era.

Didn’t really watch the game, just the last 20 mins but I’ll say this.
We were ordinary against the Warriors, luckily they were worse.
We weren’t good against Panthers unlike what most thought on here, most teams would have beaten that Panthers team that day the way they played.
Sharks are a better football team than us, proven tonight, better coach, better recruitment, there is a reason why they didn’t re-sign Woods, they are building something unlike us.
We are ordinary, face it.
I reckon we are a solid 8-12 team.
Sharks are a 4-6 team.

"Most teams would have beaten that Panthers team that day the way they played."

So would we had we been allowed to have 13 on the field.

"better coach"
We'll see. It's is only round 3!

The chap who surprised me tonight was Sloan. He was dreadful, what happened? He looked slow, disinterested and just didn’t try. Fell off a number of tackles. Not just tonight but Amone has never looked an NRL player to me.
Next week please put bird to 5/8 and roll the injury dice and get Moga on the park.
Yes agree 100%

So hard to sit and watch our old McGregor game return.Second half was all one off running by our forwards with no intent for second phase play. We rarely got outside them but when we did we looked dangerous.I think Lomax looked great but rarely got the ball. Hunt isnt a captain-we were rudderless tonight. Cronulla rarely had their kicker challenged, but Hunt was once again caught a few times. This is really football from 10 yrs ago. Sua getting binned again is unacceptable these days. We seem to be such slow learners when crack downs occur and we lose players. Its just ridiculous when us supporters watch the same crap returning year after year and wonder why.Every other team can adapt but not us. Cronulla ran all over us-which really sticks in my throat- but we offered so little. The team needs a big shakeup and some of the new guys arent offering what we thought they would. Awful tackling has returned and once again im looking at a lost season already. You can only take so much

But we didn’t have 13 on the field.
We had players sin binned for poor discipline.

Re- better coach, we will see, happy to check back in.

Perfectly put DD. Don't blame you if you follow through. I'll stick with it longer. I found making it a race to the eight in my mind takes the sting out of losses a bit. We clearly are not ready for competing for a trophy. Something we used to always be in the hunt for.

The "just wait" mantra bandied about by the club and the fans alike is so frustrating. It never eventuated under Mary did it, and the writing is on the wall for the newly-extended coach. Not at all right tonight and no excuses. I mean look at how the media have been into Madge. Another club no one wants to join because it wreaks. At what point do we expect results? Give the fans a date? It only took Fitzgibbon, another who dodged us, one off season to set up what looks to be a cracker of a side.

Yes it's early days, but when you know, you know sometimes.
Thanks thebigredv. I am only angry that Su'a was binned that has put me off. Him being binned started the rot and our boys virtually gave up.

The coaches have put in a lot of trust in the young ones with the hope of them showing skills etc. But, to me, they just do not have the X factor to get us wins at the moment - you could say and I don't want to really say it, but Amone isn't great for us just like Norman wasn't. The recruitment people on behalf of Hook have got us more bigger men to play in the forwards and a couple of backs in Suli and Moga but we need a couple of great ballplayers and a couple of game breakers. On top of this we need a far better defensive coach - far better please - just like Fitzy has been and is.

The conditions were bad but the Sharks knew how to play good wet weather football and they were confident in being able to pass the ball around. Just better coached with better players.

I read that Sloan didn't play well. Kennedy has the wood over him as he is more mature and skilled and is a better player. Same goes for Hynes - better player than Hunt and so when you compare most of the players they have to ours, they win hands down I'm afraid.

When we start losing games in a row, it compounds and players' confidence drops. Who knows, we could get on a roll further into the comp, who knows?
What was looking for us to be up there this year has nosedived, even though it is only round 3. The signs are just there.

Let's hope I am totally wrong.

missed most of the first half tonight . what i did notice was Simms not being on the field until late in the second half . on stats he only played 34 minutes .. did he go off injured or has he just gone off the boil

We are a team that is hard to watch.
- one out running
- no spark, zip or crisp passing from dummy half
- a half back that overplays his hand & causes breakdown
- a backline that stands flat and sees little ball
- under utilise the little speed we have in Ramsay & Sloan

Whoever is our attack coach, needs to press the reset button and get with the program as we aren’t on the page,
