Sadly it was men against boys it felt last night for a bit.. and totally smarting/pissed at the loss. still, only round 3. I just checked last years results and Roosters lost 30 - 6 to Warriors in round 4 (didn't check the line ups though)... some worrying signs, but we have the potential there, and a week, let alone 6 months, is a long time in footy![/QUOTE
Great to get a positive outlook on our current form Sure its hardly great but it is early and we no we have alot of work to do I thought we were ok in the first half COMPETING quite well but unfortunately dylan had a shocker and that sent us backwards I WOULDNT be writing us off yet Its early days and we are capable of better performances than that New to this forum im sometimes amazed at all the negative stuff i read Panthers are my team win loose or draw

Whether this is true or not, who knows. Gus did need to get his head and body out of the coaching staffs faces. It isn't healthy for him to be butting into the coaching side of things, especially when he's not the coach.

It was different when Cameron was coaching the team at the end of last year.

Storm against Broncos - Andrew McCollough ran 43 meters

Storm against Raiders - Josh Hodgson ran 32 meters

Storm against Panthers - Katoa and Egan combined ran 4 meters

Katoa and Egan combined have notched up 31 run meters in 3 rounds

& Melbourne won all those games too yeh? So seems to show it’s not as important as you’re making it out to be.

Both of those games were a lot more open then last night as well. We played them on a wet regional track where we made a plethora of unforced errors allowing Storm to completely dominate & slow the ruck.

It’s just my opinion, but there seems to be more important issues than our Hooker situation currently, they just seem to be made a scapegoat on the back of every loss.

It certainly is when the article directly quotes the CEO of the club.

I do believe this article. I think it was done with the cooperation of the Panthers club. Gould's health is not fantastic. The hours of travelling from the shire to the riff over many years are taking their toll. It appears that Gus will have a reduced role within the club (i,e no coaching unless asked) to make clear boundaries with Gus and Ivan.

I believe this is very sensible for all concerned. Gus continually meddling was not and is not healthy. I'm sure he'll give opinion if asked, the special word here is 'asked'.

Who would have known about these sex tapes being around. Phillip I think will be punted he was in the tapes too. He's not worth the worry or effort.

This is a PR article in my opinion. Done before the tabloids can twist it that way and this.

Smart move by the club.

Wait a minute, Kent last year said that this wouldn’t work because Gus won’t be able to keep his nose out of the coaching of the team.

Now he’s saying that it’s not working because Gus has distanced himself?? Make your mind up you silly Kent.

Weird how it turns out that all those rumors in the press last year regarding Griffin and Cleary turned out to be almost exactly true right down to the detail.

Sometimes, league writers actually do have the inside scoop. Sometimes they are making shit up. The trick is understanding that both are a possibility at any given time.

Which is why it is amusing to see people automatically leap to "Kent doesn't know anything, he's full of shit" again.

Where there is smoke, there is most definately fire when it comes to Penrith. Its true just about everytime.

This is a pretty good read. Covering most angles of the story too.

I thought so too.

Unlike many others. I am OK with the way things turned out. I don't think there was too much miss communication regarding it all.

The club chose to go with Cleary as the long term deal.

I will admit I have no love for Bennett. Without a huge cheque book he's nothing.

Last time he was here James Segeyaro got the Dally M hooker of the year ahead of Cam Smith.

James Segeyaro averaged ~65m per game in the 4 years he was with us.
Robbie Farah averaged 56m per game for Tigers last year.

Egan averaged 18m last year. Averaging 8m this year.
Sione Katoa had 82m for his game in 2015 under Ivan. Has averaged 20m a game under Griffin.

Ivan likes his hookers running. The problem is our current hookers just aren't that good

Wasn't Egan hyped as next big thing? He deserves a full season to develop not a handfull of games. Be pateint and give him time.

Our hookers never seem to deliver though. Look great in superstar 20s sides. Hit first grade and never seem to take that step up.

Egan could very well be a late bloomer like Damien Cook. Peter Wallace is our last successfully developed hooker and that's after a decade in the halves first.

He had a crack earlier in his career and was pretty average too. It's the one position we cant seem to develop.

He still needs time. He comes through same time as Mahoney so be good watching them both develop.
