No doubt he's the better player. Even saying he could shift sides he's definitely gone next year so you're shafting the long term centre on that side and losing the relationship building that'll help defence.
Momo jumps around clubs for a reason. He's no long term option for a side challenging for comps.

We can win the comp this year, let's not f**k around

The fullback thing isn't about Crichton versus Edwards, I think Crichton may very well be the best fullback at the club. The issue is I have to think come finals games that Edwards is our fullback and Crichton will be a centre, because if that isn't the case then what was persevering with a severely limited Aekins all about? And it doesn't seem the time to be changing his mind on Edwards after how good he was against Storm.

And Crichton at centre is very much still a work in progress. Him and Luai are the soft spot in our defensive line and last time he had typical centre's two on one in a crucial moment he spewed the ball along the ground straight over the side line 2m in front of our unmarked winger. He's not been horrible, but he hasn't been much of an asset so far.

Pick your best side this season. Your a chance to win it.
Worry about next season when it comes
Different story if you where in a rebuilding phase then I would agree. But not at this point.

Critchton has been signed on big $$ cause he will end up at the back.
650k for a stud fullback is cheap.
His big $$ wont start till 2022. I assume 2023 is when he will make the switch. They can afford to pay him larger for one season at centre.
Dylan has this year and next imo and then will most likely be moved on or go to centre.

Burton has signed for 2yrs with a 3rd in his favour. He is 21. So by the time he is turning 24 he could chose to return if opt out of 3rd year. Or if 25 he again would be free.
If he can be part of the 13 and kills it why not bring him back.
Best thing the eels ever did was bring Jnr Paulo back. Changed the club.

Burton has played 99% on the left. While I rate him the better player there's no guarentee he's better there than Momirovski. Also combinations work over a single season not just future years.

You can afford to pay Crichton decent money at centre if you’re paying Edwards moderate money which I assume we are. I don’t think it’s anywhere as clear cut as you’re saying it is.

People who have debuted older than Momo is now are having great careers right now like Cook and Walker. It means nothing. They bounced around clubs in reserve grade. Are you saying Souths aren't challenging for a comp with them in the team?

Particularly when a player had had a lot of injuries. They don’t follow the normal development trajectory so it’s hard to say how much they’ve progressed towards their ceiling.

A less athletically gifted player can put on the hard work to improve their game and become a solid or even star first grader. A player who you can count on to make the right decision based on the situation is pretty handy.

Players who rely on an extreme burst of acceleration and what not are an injury away from being out of the league as they lack the football nous.

Capewell bounced around clubs and a bit of a journeyman before really establishing himself at Penrith.
Capewell played in juniors for the Broncos and Roosters before playing in the Queensland Cup with the Ipswich Jets. Signed by the Sharks from 2016 where he established himself and was forced out not by choice just by the Sharks salary cap who had half a dozen players all earning $800k or more a season. Two years on and the Sharks are still suffering from having too many ageing, injury prone, high earners.

He's not bad and a handy player but we have better now and moving forward
He's a very good player but his price will be prohibitive and he's already keeping Martin on the bench and Burns and Hopgood out of the side altogether. These are quality forwards although Burns has an error in him.

I see Renouf had him on the bench for Australia which probably won't happen but it shows how much his stocks have risen.

Ehh, he was depth at the Sharks. He wasn't really a regular in the 17 player, he was behind some very good players but wasn't really wasn't an established regular first grader like he is now.
