Round 4 Vs Manly

I'm a little worried Ivan will stick with May.
Ivan doesn't make many risky decisions. Keeps May at the back in the mode of Aekins last year. A player thats not that flashy but will do the job safely with few errors.

Personally I would go with Staines. Speed to cover DCEs kicking game and that also keeps our left side attack in place.
What would make that worse is we probably get away with it against Manly

It’s inline with what we’ve heard in the past. Dazza knows people at the club who’ve told him similar.

if it’s just a few weeks then Edwards comes straight back in, but if I was Edwards I wouldn’t want to be out for an extended period.

Next obvious question is what happens to Edwards if he did get forced out of fullback? Would he play centre or wing? He’d easily get a fullback role at another club if he wanted it.

Yeah I don’t think a few weeks at his early in the season would be enough time.

I think Dyl could play centre or wing easily, whether he would or not is hard to say, I’d like to keep him but he would be sacrificing money you’d have to think.

The fact he works with Brandy means there could be something to it. Imagine if they do throw Staines out the back and tell him to try and earn the position.

Lack of winger rules Staines out this week. Also his defence would be an issue the FB does a lot of talking not sure he is ready just yet

I would go with Crichton at fullback and Burton at left centre. We’ve just given Crichton a huge contract, I think he needs to show us if he’s got what it takes in a spine position.

Depends how will they they trust Burton defending next to Luai. It shouldn't matter this week but we play Canberra and Newcastle while Edwards is out.

Slotting Burton back there might be the better option to keep the defence line intact

He's a fullback by trade so there'd be more chance than not that he'd be able to talk like one.

Scans have confirmed Panthers fullback Dylan Edwards suffered a broken hand in Thursday's victory over the Storm.

The injury occurred in a tackle during the first half at BlueBet Stadium and Edwards failed to return to the field following the half-time interval.

The 25-year-old is expected to be sidelined for at least four weeks.
With Brent Naden and Robert Jennings currently serving NSW Cup suspensions, Panthers coach Ivan Cleary will have to consider a backline reshuffle ahead of next Thursday's clash with the Sea Eagles

I only know 2 people on this forum. Kilkenny and one other who no longer posts. They weren't at the game last night but if they were, and anyone else in the Western stand would have seen naden. Most passionate bloke in the whole crowd. Im a naden fan and I'm trying not to be bias but he was next level. Can tell how much his mate in this team mean to him.

I've said it soo many times but I'll say it again. Cant beat passion and commitment. It's the best asset a footy player can have. Get him in ASAP. Looks sooo fit too.

Didn't play a trial or Round 1 last year. So been close to 18 months since he played there in a game.

He played under 10 games in total NSW Cup. Most on the wing so we are talking very raw with the speed of FG.

No doubt he will get his chance and push Edwards in the next fews but for me this perfect time for playing it safe with Burton there

Ivan won't bring him straight in from a suspension. So it is all in his court how many more weeks he is down for

If he earns it he can have it. Not to mention the match fitness he'll now need.

Did Ivan want 4 games for reason like fitness.. if so he is a while away.

What also won't help is lets use the worst case of 8 weeks for Edwards. The only games we won't start favourites is Canberra and Souths. So if we are winning and staying healthy he will be longer away too

Pretty much. Intentions aside getting suspended hurt him badly.

It's why I couldn't undersrand it. Surely playing at 80% commitment is better in his situation. Then going 120% and having a few errors and now missing 3 weeks

Yep he could've actually made a case to get over Momirovski or get the fullback now Edwards is out. Instead he'll struggle to get a game all year.

No, I don’t think so either. Edwards has been playing well. But if he got 6-10 weeks, then who knows.
